George W. Bush on painting a new vision of immigrants

The former president's latest passion is celebrating the contributions of America's immigrants on canvas (as seen in the new book "Out of Many, One: Portraits of America's Immigrants") with the hope, he tells "CBS Evening News" anchor Norah O'Donnell, that a more respectful attitude to those who come to our country will help lead to reform of the immigration system. Mr. Bush also talks about partisanship and adding his voice to current political debates.

The US had historically accepted 250k immigrants LEGALLY every year, but the Left has opened the borders into an uncontrollable mess. With all the economic woes brought about by blue state tyrants, this is not the time to let 2-3 million or more, just pour across the border. What other country just allows people to pour across? Try this in France Japan, Italy, NZ or even MX. It is insane!! This piece is what CBS passes off as bipartisan, but it is all for the globalist party, of which Bush, Obama and our current sock puppet, faux president, Xi Joebama stand for. I am glad W is enjoying his ranch and painting, and glad he has remained humble (for the most part, though he wasted no time in criticizing Trump). Numbnuts, and his side kick, Kamala, have no plan. They simply want more votes and to overrun the native population - much easier to control and destroy American civilization that way! Giving handouts to illegals, while not helping Americans, is idiotic! We were built on LEGAL immigration, not wanton, reckless admission to everyone who decided they wanted to come. Eliminate the handouts and see how many come. These hordes at the border, many of them trafficked kids and women, all had Biden T-shirts, cell phones and flip flops (who flew them there to fake a scene?), but are supposedly destitute, to create another fake photo op. Until the economy is stabilized, ALL immigration should be halted. Just because someone wants to come, does not place a burden on the US to let them in. Even the Bushes, Clintons and Obozo said so, but now it's fine?? Hogwash! There will be no attempt to fix anything, but rather an attempt to hide the treachery, and spend $millions putting people up in hotels at taxpayer expense. Maybe Xi Joebama can spend some of the millions he is receiving from China to house or care for these people? Good luck with this cheap parasite ever doing that!!

@Debbie Lawson that is not true with all Texans. My maternal family are all from Texas and I spent half my life there. I remember the farms, ranches and all the chicken houses. It was not unusual for ranchers and farmers to have undocumented workers. They knew they where undocumented and it was ok because their workers became their allies and friends. The same with the blacks. The ones they knew and developed relationships with where ok. When speaking of the ones they did not know, those where the bad ones. There is rampant racism in Texas. To deny it is to put a barrier to resolution.

My family and I went to the Bush library when we were in Dallas and ate in the restaurant there. I was talking to our waiter about his job and if the Bush’s eat at the restaurant. He was such a great guy and told us some stories and entertained our curiosity for a few minutes. He told me they were regulars, what they liked to order, and that the President and First Lady were both great people. As I recall, our waiter was an immigrant from a Spanish speaking country. I wonder if his portrait might be in the book.
