"If you disagree with someone it doesn't mean you don't like them" - W. that's the problem in today's politics. If you disagree with someone you have to hate them. That's what these two understand because they were raised with respect. That's how they're friends now. Your politics aren't your identity

No they're friends because they are part of the same class of people ruling the rest of us. Their disagreements are nothing between eachother, their disagreements with us border on violently satanic.

No, the problem with today’s politics is their disagreements are just a bunch of fake political theater. Behind the scenes, they’re fist-bumping each other cause they only believe in one ideology and that’s screwing over the American people while making heaps of money in the process.

Sad what we've lost in these last few years. How pleasant and good it is to see political adversaries who can respect, like, and appreciate one another. I hope we can heal from the scorched-earth, take-no-prisoners attitude in politics and get back to this.

I wasn't really trying to say their eloquence is more important than policy. I agree, if trump really does stay isolationist that would be great. I'd rather have blatant corruption and bigotry than a million+ dead foreign civilians thanks to the war on terror. Lesser of two evils. But I have a really hard time believing that trump is a pacifist, it seems to me that he is only anti-war when he can use it to criticize his political opponents. We'll see. I hope we won't get into another ineffective war.

I can't say enough about how uplifted I feel having listened to this conversation between Presidents Bush and Clinton - about their relationship, their history, their perspectives and their reflections on being president as well as their own presidencies. It is very contentious while a person is the sitting president but I have to say that I feel I have a lot better insight now and from other interviews I've seen as far as who these two former presidents are as people and as public servants and as former keepers of the great office of the presidency. I also applaud them for the dignity in their commentary and the power of their example. I'm sorry that some people cannot handle the implied meaning, but these men were presidents for 8 years. I'm sorry but they learned something from it. And they deserve a lot of respect from continuing their work in public service as Americans and as leaders. What's wrong with this country is that people are so addicted to their own biases that they lost sight of pride in our country. Someone said on CSPAN, a woman from Maine, "I hope you enjoyed your Independence Day because if we continue to behave the way we are, it may be your last." So the remedy to that is take the blinders off and listen. And respect our former presidents.

The two men are very comparable and contrastable. Ways how they compare is they’re both two-term presidents of course, their southern heritage coming from the Deep South with their heavy southern accents, physical appearances, and having both been at least two-term incumbent governors at the time of their elections, both their vice presidents were chosen based on national experience that the two lacked, and both of their elections were about change and saw the media on their sides and both men tuned in shrill (Clinton) and adequate (Bush) debate performances against poor performances from their insider opponents who both committed famous/infamous debate gaffes, both elections are said to be the results of a third party candidacy, and both of their successor’s elections didn’t end like they’d hoped. The differences are that Clinton’s character is questionable while his presidency saw the world on the right track while Bush’s character is more innocent while his presidency is literally one of the worst in history that saw the world way on the wrong track and led to many turning on him and calling for his impeachment and assassination, Clinton’s election involved running against an incumbent president in the middle of an economic recession while Bush’s election involved running against an incumbent vice president over very minor issues during great economic times, their reelection debates in quantity, issues, and questions and their reelection opponents are quite contrastable in appearance, stances, Clinton’s endorsed successor was his own friend and vice president while Bush’s endorsed successor was a man outside of his administration who Bush had previously run against for his party’s nomination and had never been friends with, and Clinton’s presidency ended on a high note while Bush’s presidency ended on a low note.

He says a few things that show he is much more awake than he lets off and there are many obvious barriers to what you can speak about in these contexts, interesting person with his own self justifications no doubt, which is interesting due to the absolute massive scale of responsibility placed on these sorts of peoples shoulders for what they know to be war crimes and so on, it would be an interesting conversation no doubt...

Am so proud and happy to seeing such mature respectful men talk to each other out of office regardless of their shortfalls and yes boy did each have issues but they also had great contributions and doing great work out of office as clearly we have witnessed, now it's 11/ 2022 and seeing where we are with all the presidents its a shame we don't even know where to place Trump no connection to any president not even his own VP and were still dealing with him...sad

These two bonded thanks to President 41. He had a son who was willing to share him and he became really a father figure for President Clinton. I long for times when people weren’t so hateful. In these times this is the aberration and not the norm. That is sad…

What's your best achievement during your 8 years in office? Clinton: I got more social equality where the bottom 20% grew their income more than the top 20%, and I had 3 budget surpluses. Bush: my daughters still love me
