@@johnnikos7817”Move it On Over” is a great Hank cover, “One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer “ is a great cover of John Lee Hooker. George has a knack for tipping his hat to the greatest of Americana, while boldly laying it down in his own way. I’ve heard some interviews where he waxes fondly about the heyday of blues, country swing, and early rock n’ roll.. the guy really knows his stuff!
Great cover of Hank Williams' tune
George and the Delaware Destroyers were absolutely fluent in the art of keeping the party rockin!
George was an under rated slide guitarist in my opinion. He had some hits back in the 70s and this was one of them.

I agree he’s a great outstanding slide guitarist
Hank Williams, Sr wrote this song in 1947. I loved this song back in the 60s growing up in the 60s. cheers

Hank Sr wrote some amazing tunes and I'm not a country fan. I love his stuff!
George played a lot of covers of bluesmen like John Lee Hooker and Bo Diddley, as well as Country artists (Hank Williams in this case). He's not the most technical player, but he kept the good-time music alive and helped to introduce it to a new generation of fans in the 80s.
@robertjohnson1681
Ай бұрын
not the most technical player, but man... the fat thumpy twangy tones he could get and just hang on a note and slide into it to elicit more feeling than most technical masters can achieve...of course it's all subjective

Saw him a couple of times back in the '80s. House was always rocking.
"I Drink Alone" y'all love it.
Check out Bad to the Bone & Who Do You Love.
When I saw him decades ago they wore sneakers and black jeans and t-shirts. Their only stage props were galvanized steel trash cans full of ice and beer...which they drank constantly through the whole performance..it was an awesome show...
Saw George open for John Fogerty last week in NJ. He can still rock at 74.

Seen twice. Great concerts!
This is a classic Hank Williams, Sr country song lyric from the 1940's, rocked out with turbocharged blues rock slide guitar. The guitar and vocal is all George. Good stuff.
Love his deep gritty voice.
I love George & the Delaware Destroyer’s. Big time party music of my late teens… “Pretty soon I’ll be scratching fleas!” That’s George on lead vocals and slide guitar. Good get guys 😊
On Sunday I went to see John Fogerty, I didn't think he had a opening act but he did and it was George Thorogood and the Destroyers. Not bad!
I've seen this guy live a few times and it was always money well spent. He's true to his art and always made sure the fans got what they wanted.
I think this song is literally the template for Rock n Roll
George Thorogood is always good for a smile💙🎶 3 more of my favorites, from the 80s juke box, for playing pool and sharing a pitcher with my pal Paul; 'Who Do You Love' 'Bad to the Bone' and even 'I Drink Alone' accompanied a lot of good times
KING of the ES-125 thin-line hollowbody named "White Fang!" Man can he rock that which recreates the tone of the first generation of P-90s invented by Gibson legend Seth Lover.
Bocephus says "Move It On Over" is the first rock and roll song. And whether or not that's true, George Thorogood showed how much the song still rocked thirty years later. And now we're approaching fifty years after that and it still rocks.
That drummer is the rock this church was built on!

Late 80's, I sat with a friend and George at a picnic table listening to a game on the radio after finishing a show at the fair grounds. Next day, I went with the bus drivers to a local game and George showed up.
I saw George T back in the early to mid 80s along with The stray Cats at Summerfest in Milwaukee.....was a great time 💯👍

Wow, what a great billing too! Both are notorious for putting on a hell of a show when they play live. Awesome! 😎👍
We first saw George and the Destroyers in the late 70's here in Oz. They went off and played for 4 hours. Great night. Unforgettable.
I saw him on St Patrick's Day late 80s. George put on a great show. Almost 3 hours. I was deaf and exhausted by the time we got to the car.
George Thorogood is baaaad to the bone! Great live
I forget which of Georges early albums had the picture of George playing with a sign nearby that read "The Worlds 1st 3 Man Quartet !" 🙂
The great Hank Williams wrote so many great tunes that could be played across many genres
Great intro to George T. This was the first song to get airplay in DC. Check out his covers of Who Do You Love and Ride On Josephine!

Saw George and the (Delaware) Destroyers at the SpiritFest in KC years ago. It was no frills, all musicianship! They rocked
This album had several hits and a bunch of amazing songs. It Wasn't Me is such a fun and funny little banger. And his cover of the Johnny Cash song Cocaine Blues, which itself may have been a cover when Johnny did it, is just epic. Who Do You Love it is such a classic. Yeah the texture and the structures are similar, but all of these have their distinct personalities for sure. I got to see them around 1981 when I was young, opening for the Rolling Stones in a smaller arena, and man is he such a good showman. Incredible. In the end he had most of us that were down on the main floor, standing up on our chairs yelling at the top of our lungs.

Ah, I love George & The Delaware Destroyers! I got to see them once, and they were fantastic live. George can play the guitar 🎸
As we said back in the day, he was in the "Doghouse".
We just seen George with John Fogerty in SC 2 weeks ago. Both guy's still rock it out!
Hey y'all, yes that's George on the lead guitar! So many great tunes from him and his signature sound! Check out ''Who Do You Love ?'' next.
Yes! Play this album all the time. One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer and the video for Bad To The Bone. My era's music never gets old!
Ah yes,George and his slide. Underrated and under appreciated. Check out his cover of Sky is Crying. He's a world class guitar player.
Probably the most fun I have ever had at a concert was seeing these guys at an outdoor music festival about 30 years ago now. They definitely made everybody happy! Good times
Dang, i haven't heard this song for decades!!! Thanks y'all.. good stuff!❤
Really fun seeing him play live (many moons ago)
Guys, I don’t know if you’ve reviewed it yet but check out Elvin Bishop Fooled Around and Fell in Love from the Midnight Special. Amazing perfect vocal performance by Mickey Thomas!
Just saw him last week at Bethel Woods, NY (Woodstock). Great show! Him and John Fogerty!
George Thorogood, totally getting the job done very well! Classic Hank Williams Sr. tune from the 1940's.
😊 Excellent reaction, fellas 👏 🎉❤
Another great one to listen to is bad to the bone
Heard this 40 yrs ago, hooked ever since.
A classic, thanks for keeping good music alive. Off topic but I too am an SRV fan and I noticed you missed him playing....love struck/rude mood, if really shows off his amazing talent, and its live. You'll love it. Blessings
I was introduced to blues by George Thorogood.
In the doghouse again! I know the feeling!
George plays the git. His sound was made on his trademark Gibson ES-125. Catch the video for "One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer".
The guitar that George uses is a Gibson ES-125 TCD... It's a hollowbody guitar with P-90 single coil pickup and it is an awesome setup. I used to have a '67 cherry burst 125, and it nailed that tone perfectly.
If you're looking for some rough and raw, straight-ahead classic rock 'n' roll, George T is your man. I've seen him in concert a few times. Great show. Some of his classics are I Drink Alone; One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer; Willie and the Hand Jive; Who Do You Love; Bad to the Bone, just to name a few.
George always brings a smile to this Delaware boy.
I have seen George about eight times live hie is 5:26 amazing puts on a great show. I can list almost 100 songs that he does 90% of th are covers of the old blues artists and he takes them to another level. Using the slide guitar and a bad ass sax. This song does not have a sax but most of his does
Saw him with the destroyers in concert in 1988. Incredible live concert
Good review Love George T !!! 🔥😎. Bad to the bone is another of hits good song !!
I saw him opening up for ZZ Top at the Gorge in Washington State. Great show.
Thoroughly good George!
Best enjoyed with some cold ones at the pool hall, love George Thorogood, check out Who Do You Love cover👍
He was really fun live
Some here may remember the 50/50 tour. He played 50 states in 50 days
You want for sure “Who Do You Love” his cover of Bo Diddley. And his John Lee Hooker cover “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer”. He’s the blues rock Bob Seger, oozes jukebox America coast to coast.
That is an old classic blues tune from the 40’s at least, could even be older than that. George’s gig was revival. He managed to catch the old time slide sound and bring this song into the… 70’s? Maybe? Couldn’t have been the 80’s. It’s got some classic cool to it.
Move it on over Laa and Chee! Good time Rockin George! This is an old Hank Williams getting the reved up rock treatment by “Lonesome George”. Do Who Do You Love off the record guys!
I saw George Thorogood and the Destroyers along with The Rolling Stones, The J. Geils Band and Prince at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum back in October of 1981.... What a day that was!!

For everyone but Prince… I was at that show and remember him dodging things being thrown at him!
Y’all gotta do more George Thorogood!
Seen Lonesome George several times. Doesn't need a fancy light show, lasers, computer displays, big screens or any of that when he can do just pure blues based rock and roll.
More of this dude!!!!
Many songs lay claim to the ‘birth of Rock and Roll’. But this Hank Sr classic from 1947 is a good starting point. I highly encourage you guys to listen to it (a reaction to it would be great). But to make your rock music education complete you need to hear this and other great country and r&b songs (like Rocket 88 and Rock around the Clock) to see how all the pieces fit together.
Aw man you guys haven't done Bad To The Bone? Thats orobably George Thorogood's best known song. Most widely used in movies & stuff too. A MUST...
It’s hard for me to describe my feelings about George Thorogood. And the Delaware destroyers. I did get to see him in concert and it was fantastic This was in the 80s. This song introduced people to the music of Hank Williams And that’s why it’s important. It also introduced blues. This is around the same time Stevie Ray Vaughan was very popular. So I believe that’s why George Thorogood was successful. There was a bit of a blues Renaissance going on. There was a lot of progressive country happening. He was in the right place the right time. I’m not trying to take anything away from him as a musician. But I think it’s interesting historically speaking I’ve always been a huge fan of Hank Williams as is anyone with any sense at all. He was a brilliant, brilliant writer and the hooks! I’m so lonesome my cry is one of the best songs ever written. In my opinion. I love many genres of music and Hank Williams definitely Bridges genres. He was an inspiration to so many people. Just wanted to slide that on over to ya!
He’ll yea ! GT and ZZ the true everyman” bands. Love George’s dirty playin sound. Saw him ton times blows roof Off to this day! Tx fellas
That is George singing and playing guitar! Movin’ into the doghouse with that dog! He’s a heck of a showman.
On the day I was born The nurses all gathered round They gazed with wide wonder At the joy they had found The head nurse spoke up Said, "Leave this one alone" She could tell right away That I was Bad To The Bone
Unspectacular. Bar bands are doing this any night of the week.
Love George
1981, opened for the Stones!
"Who do you love" banger...
Party time song..🎸🎶
He may be movin' on in but the dog still got the couch.
Check out his song Gearjammer. One of my favorites to listen to while driving.
Awesome choice guys. George does not have a bad song. Bad To The Bone, I Drink Alone and One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer are must listen to songs. Gear Jammer is a rocker too. Get A Haircut is a fun one. His cover of Cocaine Blues is amazing too.
Good ol’ rock N’ roll!
Love the distortion on that guitar
The sound of his hollow body Gibson. 🤩
Try Bad To The Bone next from him.
First song I ever heard by him..been a fan ever since. He plays the blues like it should be..dirty and nasty!
Mr. George Thorogood doing the Blues with the Bluesiest Blues tune there is. All the Blues cliches a man can use, and used to the fullest extent.
❤❤❤
His first couple lps were full of this. Check out Elmore James for some roots.
Niceeeeeeee AP! ☠️☘️
The baddest mfer in rock n roll.
Yes, That’s George’s slide
Great 12 bar blues song
Hank Williams! Rock and Roll is country and blues played double-time. Bad boy got put out in the doghouse. She warned him.
Now you gotta react to the original by Hank Sr as commented by others. Oh boy, country music on Airplay Beats. What the hell is the world coming to. 😂
Brush with greatness: Several of the priests who taught me (Catholic HD for boys in Philadelphia) also taught him in Delaware Catholic HS .
