Loved this one. I'm eighty and live in Australia now but still remember my daddy helping me onto those lions. Was there when our late queen paid her first visit after her coronation. Follow all your vids.

My wife and I love Glasgow and try and visit as often as possible and I can thoroughly recommend the city chambers visit, George sq to me is the heart of Glasgow and it’s where I gravitate toward my wife on the other hand loves the people’s park and that’s where she goes to feel totally relaxed and enjoy her morning walks, greetings from Ireland,

I would dedicate a statue to Dr June Almedia, a Glaswegian scientist who discovered corona viruses in the 1960s. She was from Denniston and couldn't afford to go to uni.

I have been terribly un productive for videos since I left RM but training courses, job interviews and holidays have left me with less video time than working every day :-D I filmed some of this episode on the way back from a job interview which is why I had no bike with me. Thank you again for your support mate, Dave.

To me,the square has never felt the same since they got rid of the red tarmac on the deck there. Weird! Statue of YOU! for educational services. I've never heard polis in Glesga called 'bobbies',it's usually a very word beginning with a B and ending in an S. 😆 The size thing was fascinating btw. Maybe have to doing MY measuring at night though!😉

A man of great talent and charity that's carried the spirit of Glasgow around the world with him, and deserves a long long rest. Can't say he'd deserve the pigeon poo though

And give a homeless man a job? Seriously. SNP council for you! I feel so much better about the square thank you for sharing this. Its amazing to walk through such brilliant Scots. Glasgow city council should clean the statues on a nightly basis. Look how maukit they all are. There's moss on the GOMA, walked past that recently. It looked like Banksy had spray painted the pillars green. And the Duke of Wellington had swear words sprayed on it!

Thank you for the support but dont print up the election posters just yet. I have plenty of opinions on what could be better but I have no appetite for the arguing and negativity that comes with politics. I choose to focus on the positives in our city and try and show why we should be proud to be from Glasgow. I will let the politicians and councillors fight it out and there are good councillors out there, they just need our support when you find them.

  • @AstonishingGlasgow

Its fair to say that almost all of Glasgow's trade (and every other industrialised city of the time) in the 1700's involved slave trading in some way. Im not even close to being qualified to discuss it fully but remember that there was also a lot of people in Glasgow who opposed slavery and helped to get it banned.
