George Lopez Reveals He Reconnected With Estranged Daughter Mayan After 7 Years

We all love a happy ending! George Lopez sat down with Kit Hoover at Universal Studios Hollywood to talk about working with his daughter, Mayan, in the new show, "Lopez Vs. Lopez." The comedian said that he and his daughter were estranged for seven years before reconnecting and ultimately starring in their new show together. "I am in the happiest place I have ever been in my life," George said. Check out the premiere of "Lopez Vs. Lopez" Friday night on NBC.

I have much respect for George Lopez. We are still human and sometimes we mess up as parents. It is a beautiful thing that they didn’t give up, forgive each other and moved on. What a beautiful thing that they are both in the same industry and are collaborating

I’m glad he reconnected with his daughter. It doesn’t matter why they didn’t speak. What’s important is that they have a relationship. That’s what matters. People waste so much time being angry. In the end life is to short and we should all just want to get along.

I’m guessing she probably lost touch with her dad after her parents divorced. George Lopez and his wife, Ann Serrano divorced when Mayan was about 14, and because George Lopez is a comedian, he was pretty busy. also, two parents divorcing is not easy for a teenager. I have friends who have gone through divorce and it is not fun. in addition, 14 years old is a very emotional age. In fact, ages between 13 and 20 are emotional, I’m still in the midst of it myself.
