Chorus:
Who's gonna fill their shoes?
Who's gonna stand that tall?
Who's gonna play the Opry
And the Wabash Cannonball?
Who's gonna give their heart and soul
To get to me and you?
Lord I wonder, who's gonna fill their shoes?

Patrcia.. you are right about that. . I don't think any of these girls singers coming up now can sing, IF you have to get on the stage half naked to hold they're attention, your not a good singer and the majority have to dance , Theres nothing wrong with dancing or wearing clothes that show almost everthing to get attention if that's what you like, BUT you shouldn't have to do that on the stage to keep they're attention..Also I don't understand half the words they're singing. They repeat the same line over, and over, They're not telling stories ,like George and the other guys back then.. Just a couple of them do..But most of them are fast songs so they can dance on the stage., Just miss all the old singers when I was young.. Like George said, whose gonna fill they're shoes, including George's. now . SAD ALMOST ALL ARE GONE.

Wow thank God for you people, who are older and wiser ,and very knowledgable about country music simply because we lived it, waylon was my king ,and so was haggard, and everyone else in the 50's & 60's I think this song was the greatest song ever made because every king was mentioned, and who would do that but a king himself (queen )cause there will never be a ???????,to fill their shoes, this song was george jones signature mark before leaving this world,it included everyone who made country , country. That was honoring those before him , during him ,and those after him , so we had that best country era and we were a part of it. GOD BLESS YOU ALL, IF YOU KNOW , YOU KNOW, CAUSE ,I KNOW.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 I’m thankful for this powerful & wonderful song! I grew up listening to Grand Ole Opry music from back in the day that included Hank Sr, Minnie Pearl, Dolly, Porter Wagner, etc. I so appreciated their music. I think of this song often & had to listen to it today. Reminds me of my family, our rides in the country on a Sunday afternoon, loving family members who would call you or stop by for those sweet visits. Who’s gonna fill their shoes? Well, we all have to step up to the plate & do those things that we were recipients of that blessed us. WE need to pass things like that onto the next generation! Prayer is the most important part of that. Blessings to all. 🥰😎✌️
