Ho! So good! Eskdale recorded the first-ever performance of the Haydn in 1939, but because of the limitations of even two sides of a 12" 78 rpm record the first movement had to be left out. Here we have it whole.

This is wonderful, says quite a bit about how the performance of the Haydn has evolved over the years. The older renditions seem to have a more melodic approach with individual notes drawn out longer and a lighter articulation. The best rendition IMO is the Gerard Schwartz version, his embellishments were outside-the-box.
