My mom just passed away 2 days ago and my prayer during her lengthy illness was that she find my God and be able to sing How great Thou Art along with Mr . Shea. Mom I pray you will R.i.p. with Jesus.

I was at Madison Square Garden in 1957 when George Beverly Shea sang How Great Thou Art. I was on my way to serve as a missionary in Mali Republic, West Africa, where I served with my wife for over 44 years. From the time I was saved as a senior in HS in Kansas City, MO, in 1951 through YFC I have followed the BGEA. I only ever had the pleasure of hearing George Beverly Shea live once, at QPR football stadium when I was a steward. One of the greatest experience of my life.

Amazing example of a failing human being using the incredible gift God gave him for HIS glory, not his own. My parents played this man's records growing up and his voice was always my fav.

Man he is 103 and his voice is still strong and full! This man is truly blessed.

RIP Bro George Beverly Shea, you have been such a blessing to me and my family as I remember my grand daddy, grand ma, and my daddy, who have all gone to heaven now, sing these very words so many times. Tell them all high as ya'll all sing together for Jesus and the Angels! This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through! God Bless you all!

OK......I have to share this..........in 2000, I was a pallbearer at my father-in-law's funeral, and he programmed many of these old hymns for his funeral service........well, when he programmed "How Great Thou Art" at the end of his service.........being brought up in the Baptist Church as I was, and because my Granddad, a Baptist minister for about 28 years, loved those old songs.......I raised my mighty baritone as we took that casket to the hearse, and I'm proud to have done it!!!

My father loved hearing George Beverly Shea sing. Some of my earliest memories are of my father listening to the Hour of Decision on Sunday nights after church. What a blessing to grow up in a Christian home.

I met George in the 70s. My twin and I were with Cliff Barrows for a week at a church in Atlanta. Cliff Preached each night and we did 2 or 3 songs . George came in one night of the meeting and sang. Most people are not aware that Cliff is a fantastic preacher . Every one thinks he just leads the music for the Big crusades. Both George and Cliff are just down home humble fellows and working with them was a highlight of all our years in music ministry. Thanks for sharing this video !! - FLOYD

SANDIE...HOW LOVELY!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MESSAGE!! YES, I MUST SAY THAT I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. I'M SO BLESSED TO HAVE HEARD DR. BILLY GRAHAM AND REV GORGEOUS BEVERLY SHEA WHEN I WAS A CHILD. BOTH NOW WITH OUR LORD. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE WONDERFUL TALKS BILLY MUST BE HAVING WITH JESUS AND THE SONGS THAT BEV IS SINGING WITH THE HEAVENLY ANGELS. ONE DAY WE WILL BE THERE, SANDIE, TO SIT AND LISTEN TO THESE GREAT MEN OF GOD.

Watching him sing happily in his old age is a very wonderful testimony that our GOD is really great! I can't help but cry because I feel so blessed just by watching him sing of GOD's power and greatness..not only to HIS life but among all of us! To GOD be all the glory!

No opera singer in the world could bring own the house like George Beverly shea. His songs cause us to worship the Lord with all our heart. Such a joyful crowd.

One may feel their voice not worthy to lift in song,, but to your your Lord it is the most beautiful sound in heaven. “ by golly, that kid might make it after all! “ Though the years may have turned the hair as white as snow, the hopes of a young boy still live.

So glade that my Family & I knew this wonderful God free man.

so it is important to make it clear to our elderly loved ones that we need them in spite of their weakness.

Bev shea was one of the best hymn singers there ever was, thats my opinion he was still singing at a 103 yrs old and he lived to be 104..what a great man he was

By golly, his voice is still resonant and wonderful at this age. I couldn't sing for my own life! God bless this man for his dedication.

My late wife brought back The Beautiful Garden of Prayer record by George Beverly Shea back from America in 1958 and is still being played. The voice is beautiful and his recording of How Great Thought Art tops every thing I remember hearing my wife singing it in 1959 and it brought me to accept Jesus.

George left us 10 years ago on Sunday April 16, 2023. Continue to celebrate and listen to this very great man.

The greatest thing about Mr. Shea is not that he was a wonderful gospel singer. Undoubtedly, he was. Rather, the greatest thing about this man, who has now gone home to be with the Lord, is this: For something on the order of 70 or 80 years, Mr. Shea faithfully served his God in ministry. THAT, is Mr. Shea's lasting legacy to the body of Christ.

its 16 years since i laid my mother to rest this was one of her favourite songs i sit hear with tears in my eyes knowing she has a front seat with one of the best gospel singers ever HOW GREAT THOUGH ART.

RIP George! it was probably my favorite thing to ever do in church band, transitioning from Charlie Hall's "Marvelous Light" into this awesome song... this dude was a blessing for 104 years, and will continue to be for many more years because of his music!

He is a Canadian growing up in Winchester,Ontario just south of Ottawa. His father was the Wesleyan minister of the church around the corner from where I live in Ottawa. I heard him in 1966 in Saint John, New Brunswick,Canada. So powerful a singer.

I remember you being the guest speaker at my high school graduation 10 years ago on June 1, 2003. You sang this song and I felt my entire future burning bright in front of me. You are now with my Papaw, whom you were friends with, and I know you are both in the Heavenly Choir!

miss this man, such a powerful voice, but i know that he is in Heaven singing right along with the choir, and with Pastor Billy !!

He has cumulatively sang for over 220 million people in his lifetime. What an amazing man and great choir director. I was blessed to be among hundreds in the choir when Billy Graham came to San Diego years ago. I will always remember how Beverly Shea was so encouraging and uplifting in our rehearsals with him. Definitely a highlight of my life!

He had one of the best voices in gospel ever !!!

Meant so much to me in my teenage years attended the Billy Graham Crusades in Wollongong NSW Australia. My Mum was a councillor and I enjoyed singing along with George Beverly Shea and the choir. He is a wonderful testament to his friend Billy Graham and his everlasting faith in Jesus Christ.

George Beverly Shea....the very best....as a kid growing up, Billy Graham, & Bev Shea....it just doesn't get any better than this......

He is still singing. It is all about the love between us and God and vice versa. GBS love for God just radiates in his voice.

His voice was full of something that comes only after enduring some amazing experiences in life. It's got that underlying, unspeakable joy.

He is a wonderful wonderful man with a very great voice!

I went to two different Baptist churches in the bible belt, and requested of each minister to have the congregation sing this song for the benefit of everyone. They wouldn't do it. Yet, I hear the audience and a famous singer singing it on KZread whenever I want to hear it. God is Great!

I wish I had his vocal abilities now but being in his 80-90s. Truly amazing. TY Mr. Shea...will see U again. This country needs major revival.

Bev Shea stands out as 1 of the BEST EVER. We can continue to hear his unequaled abilities by the technologies God has allowed us to use with great enjoyment & appreciation. Wow over 100 years old and still going strong for JESUS. I remember growing up in the 80s and back then I was made to sit and watch him on the Billy Graham gospel hour,but now in my 30s how I cherish those days. JESUS your awesome in all You do.

This is humbling that he or anyone could sing at his age and still have a very amazing voice. He holds the record in music history in general of the longest living live performer. No one has broken that record yet and I doubt Madonna or others in pop music ever will. Great song and a great singer. See you one day sir..I will be humbled and honored.

I always find this hymn very moving, a beautiful voice and was at the Billy Graham crusade of 1954 a wonderful evening

yet they say the good die young. I guess there's always an exception to the rule. He was an example of that exception. His Faith and service to God must have enriched his soul. Although I am born and raised a Catholic, I admire and love this song so much. Everytime it is sung, I get overwhelmed by emotions. It just fills my heart with gratefulness and constantly reminds me that despite of my weaknesses, I have God to look up to. And His grace is more than enough for me to go on with life.

Saw George perform here in Ottawa, Canada (just north of his birthplace of Winchester, Canada) in 1998, warming up those assembled to see and hear Billy Graham preach. What a man & what a singer! He certainly lived a good, long life! George Beverly Shea, R.I.P.

When God visited humans being, He always deported something unimaginable, spectacular and magnificent in humans heart like this kind of song, it came directly from Him to Him. Glory Hallelujah Amen.

There will never be a person who could even touch this song as heaven's newest angel in the choir.

What a wonderful gospel singer, now departed from here to heaven. Singing praises unto God there I believe.

Long story short, this song got me through 12 weeks Marine Corps bootcamp and 12 months in jungles of Viet Nam as a scout sniper! Thank you for posting it.

It is GOOD FRIDAY 19/04/2019 on this day away back on Good Friday 20/04/1984 my step-son Peter Wignall died by drowning tomorrow I will sit and cry for him and also along with my lovely wife Myra who died 12/04/2019 and on both of these occasions I have sat and listened to the great voice sing this song to console me Thanks
