I'm 54 years old and I remember singing this song in school. We sang it in music class. I was in 4th grade and I went to a predominantly Hispanic school so it was what we sang to introduce us to Spanish as well as introduce the Hispanic kids to English. Wow, that was over 40 years ago.
I love the feeling this song gives me! So careless and warm!

Très beau souvenir des années 70.Thanks George Baker Band.
Cheesy as this is, we need a little light and laughter in these times. This is a wonderful song. I want to do it at karaoke!
After almost 45 years this song still haunts me. It's the song that I would like to listen to when I happen to be on a death bed and counting the days and my prayers to the Lord would be bless my soul to fly away like the bird referenced in this eternal song!

The shift to Miss Lida Bond's soprano from Mr. Baker's tenor is one of the great switches in all of paired music in the literature and partly explains the supreme success of the song which I remember from when it was originally released as it swept the world.
