Geological Time Scale with reference to India - 4 Eras & 10 Periods Explained

@0.03 Some important note: Archean is one of the four EONS in our geological time scale Precambrian is a SUPEREON which covers almost 4 billion years. Pangaea was still intact even at the end of Permian(Paleozoic era). It started breaking up in the early Mesozoic which resulted in the origin of tethys sea between the Laurasia and Gondwanaland.
Carboniferous is part of PALEOZOIC ERA.
CRETACEOUS is last stage of Mesozoic era during which the Deccan traps started outpouring the lava on to the Indian plate.
The man like apes started appearing some where around 5 million years ago.
This lecture explains the geological formations in India and is divided into 4 eras and 10 periods.
4 eras include Precambrian, Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic.
10 periods explained are Quaternary, Tertiary, Carboniferous, Gondwana, Upper & Lower Paleozoic, Vindhyan, Cuddapah, Dharwar and Archean.

Precambrian according to the chronostratigraphic chart 2013 is considered as a Super eon in which Hadean, Archean, and Proterozoic are considered as eon. Archean and Proterozoic are divided into 4 and 3 eras respectively. Cenozic era is divided into Paleogene, Neogene and quaternary periods. Archean or simply Precambrian geology of India include Early Precambrian deposits are: Gorur gneiss (3300-3400 Ma) Sargur Supracrustals (3100-3300 Ma) Granulites block of Southern India (>3200-250Ma) Dharwar Supergroup (2600-2800 Ma) Aravalli Supergroup (2000-2500 Ma). Late Precambrian deposits: Delhi Supergroup Cudappah Supergroup Vindhyan Supergroup Singhbhum craton, Sausar and Sakoli group Dharwar craton which includes Dharwar supergroup are classified as Dharwar super group of Western Dharwar craton (WDC) and eastern Dharwar craton (EDC) In which WDC have the Dharwar supergroup succession as follows Charnokites Younger granite ---------------------unconformity-------- Chitradurga group --------------------------------------------------- in which Chitradurga and Bababudan is considered as the Darwar supergroup of WDC Bababudan Group --------------------------------------------------- Peninsular gneiss ---------------------------------- Sargur group ----------------------------------------- Gurur Gneiss Pangaea was still intact even at the end of Permian(Paleozoic era). Mam I was very much greatful to see your videos and learn many things first of all I would like to say big thanks.and I was studying geology and expert in Indian stratigraphy I wish to suggest there r small mistakes in your lecture, carboniferous period is comes in paleozoic age and creataceous period is famous for deccan lavas which are now exposed as deccan traps, in cenozoic age there are 5 periods they are paleocene, Eocene, Oligocene, Miocene, pliestocene, and pliestocene is great ice age period. iam not pointing out you mam iam just giving information for readers.

if a question comes on geological structure of india in UPSC examination for 20 marks what all needs to b dere in the answer. im mentioning all the rock systems as well as about the peninsular , extra peninsular region plus indo gangetic plain, but this is making my answer very lengthy in rock system we have to mention about them in just 2 or 3 lines or explain them with their characteristics along with the region and minerals. pls do let me know how tp write an answer for this. Discuss the geological structure of india. :)
