Bodow!!! And that’s how the term “bodow” was birthed.. the explosion of the volcano was described as a “bodow!”.. at the time people would help each other out and give away hand-me-down clothes and other items that can be used at a time of dire need and so the stuff given away was termed “bodow”... I’m a Vincentian... trust me.

Fun fact: The countries of the "Saint Triplet" all use the same currency because they're all member states of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and share a Central Bank - Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB). The Headquarters/Secretariat happens to be in St. Kitts. :) Another fun fact: The back of an EC note features a depiction of the Lesser Antilles and identifies the OECS member states.
St. Vincent always seems to avoid most of the hurricanes that devastate the surrounding islands.

Gotta say, the two suggestions for this channel I’d give would be: - Remake the Afghanistan episode (the ones after that are honestly pretty detailed, it’s mainly that Afghanistan is really short) - Make a series called “Keith’s Catch-Up” where Keith gives us the music of the countries he wasn’t there to explain Been watching since ~Dominica, very happy to have seen this channel grow so exponentially.

It is different 😂😂😂😂
@derrickthewhite1
4 жыл бұрын
They are different. If you can't tell a difference you probably didn't learn their dialect well enough, possibly because they leaned into international English because you were around. Or you didn't actually learn its sound, and just heard a few minutes of it. Some places are more different than others. Jamaica is probably the best known English creole from the Caribbean, and its starkly different from the stuff you hear in the eastern Caribbean, which is most of the other creoles. I am (or was, its been a while) familiar with the talk from St. Vincent, Trinidad, and Georgetown Guyana (Guyana has multiple dialects), and Jamaican always sounds weird and foreign to me.

@@Patti326 It is different but not that much, least not to me. Funny story though. My parents are Grenadian, and I grew up in an area with a shitload of Caribbean people, and used to go to Grenada all the time. Whenever people would switch to "English Creole", I understand it like regular english. One day, I'm having a conversation with my Jamaican friend whose speaking patois, and my 100% American friend is looking back and forth between me and my Jamaican friend all confused before asking "You can understand him?" Me: Wait, you don't understand him? American friend: No. Like at all. And that was the day I found out non Caribbean people don't really understand patois/english creole whatever ya wanna call it.

It is ‘boring’ but in a good way. You won’t waste your time in tourist traps and empty sight seeing. If you link up with some good people , you will have a really nice authentic experience.

@@NattieNat05 facts and as a Vincy I prefer the country to remain 'boring' so that visitors can enjoy the authentic Caribbean experience.
Very well articulated. Thank You!!
