It's not really happiness, more accurate word for that Happiness index thing would be contentment index. People are generally content with their lives in Finland. It's a kind of happiness I guess.

Sisu, humility and contentment. You don't need to be mind-blowingly happy to enjoy life - the more laid-back side of enjoyment is being content, enjoying what you have and not forever yearning for something more? That being said, politically speaking - there's a lot of discontent popping up when a mostly right-wing government both promises NOT to weaken the situation of the 'weakest and the least wealthy' AND at the same time is cutting heavily into the social security of the very same weakest and least wealthy. Mark my words, there's going to be trouble about that. As to sisu... it's said to 'take your through granite', aka if you are determined enough, ready enough to fight and strive, it's hard to keep you back. Finns are not quitters, that's a nationally instilled trait in us. And then there's humility. If there's one thing Finland dislikes it's flashy, boasty, show-off minded people, the 'stereotypical' 'Murican tourist will receive much sarcastic derision around here because they are publicly loud enough to be a nuisance. It's not that we're not proud of ourselves, our country or our achievements, it's that BOASTING is seen as highly trashy. Humble attitudes, humble words, humble life will get you far.

Before we really tried to keep good relations with Russia, despite of all the bad history between us, but the Invasion of Ukraine really opened our eyes and we now know for sure, that our neighbor can not be trusted at all and we can not be neutral in this. We've been through what Ukraine is going through right now, and we never want to go through it again alone. That's why we joined NATO. And I do feel safer now than I felt before we were accepted to join. I can see that they are more hostile towards us now after we joined, but they were threatening us even before we wanted to join. Only now they actually have to think more than twice before attacking, if that's what they were planning to do. My grandparents had to be evacuated from Karelia when they were children, because the soviets invaded Finland. They never got a chance to go back home. My "ancestral homeland" is still there, behind the border. ... The black candies and ice cream is salmiakki. It's salty liquorice. I'd say that most ppl outside of Northern Europe do not like it at all 😂

Let me tell a little about the back story of the sauna competition incident. The Finnish guy Timo was a genuine sauna freak who had loved sauna and to sauna, his whole life. He had an incredible natural tolerance for the heat and his body was accustomed to the stress the extreme heat brings you. The Russian guy on the other hand had an alternative strategy to win: cheating. He used all sorts of lotions, painkillers, lubes etc to just numb the pain, but his body was not accustomed to the extreme heat. So after a prolonged session in the sauna (it is literally much hotter than normal sauna and they pour water constantly to make it extra painful; the last man sitting the sauna is the winner), the Russian guy collapsed and died. The Finnish guy survived, but with severe burns and was comatozed for a while too. He lived, because he was strong enough to survive it.

Our grandparents did back in WW2 and we are a much, much richer, better armed and trained country now than back then. Besides it's about SISU and we still have it. Never give up, never surrender, no matter how hopeless and bad things appear. You will just not give up. To us Finns it's pretty much like you Americans say: "It's freedom or death."

Long drink was invented from Finland. It was drink for summer Olympic games 1952 -This happyness data, Finns this it is just statistic information. But really: big personal space, quiet environment, free education, purest food and water, free public healtcare. Even when think about cold winters actyaly it is good thing, it keep most dangerous diseases and bugs away. Finland does not happen bassicly ever any natural disaster. Cold weather is beautiful, shining, like time been stoped time, when world is on sleep, what colder than more beautiful. In Finland u really got possibility have all u need and concentrate doing what ever u like. I mean to say, u got environment for time and inventing here. All finns not see it this way until they visit to try live elsewhere. Like in US life consentrate for career so u can get education for your kinds and get insurance. China same idea u concentrate all life, that u got enough money to get your kids on school or enough saving for family if some one need serious medical care. Also Finnish culture does not have any family relative pressures, what u need to be in life or thinking that there is only one way to live your life.

Hello 👋🏻 from Finland 🇫🇮🤘🏻 The happiest country in the World because of metal bands, sauna and coffee we consume 😄 Personally, I have never seen need for us Finns joining NATO, until Russia attacked Ukraine and started threatening western values. Now I see this was necessary. Us Finns have very good relationships with our Nordic neighbours, so we are safe from that direction and only threat for us has ever been Russia. But, we don't have to be in NATO to get security, and we are not afraid of Russia, cause we are very prepared. And we are also member of EU, so to join NATO is not to get military assistance. Hypothetically speaking, if Finland would have never joined to NATO, and Russia would have started a war against Finland, we would have got military aid from our fellow EU countries, and some of those countries are NATO members, this means that in this hypothetical scenario there would have been NATO troops in Finland, and if any of those troops would have become under Russian attack, then Russia would have also started war against NATO. Okay then, why was this so important then, to Finland to join NATO; Selfishly, in the end it's all about tourism. Now that Finland is a NATO country, it means that we are still a safe country for westerners, we have always been safe country, but image wise this was a must move. From a global point of view, this also had to be done, because Russia wanted to break up Europe and break up NATO, so we had to make this solution and give our support to Europe and NATO, and with our small contribution strengthen Europe and western values. Current Russia is a cancer that must be stopped from spreading, Finland will give all it's support to Europe and NATO, and we won't stand aside when evil dictators try to destroy democracy, peace and freedom.

A running theme of wrong information in this video is constantly referring Russia as Soviet Union. Soviet Union was formed from the ashes of Russia's collapse, which is when Finland "escaped" from being an autonomic Grand Duchy (colony) of Russia. Finland was never part of Soviet Union, even though it is repeatedly claimed in this video Also Finland already joined NATO, but tbh, not much if anything has changed between Russia vs Finland for normal people. We have always been very realistic about Russia and Putin, and thus have been on high alert ever since invasion of Crimea happened

Finland is not the happiest country. That study has nothing to do with happiness. It is basically a trust study. Happiness is subjective. Do you feel happy or not? Finland is very far from happy country. Lot of alcoholism, drug problems, unemployment, lonelyness, suicides, and a high level usage of depression pills. Does that sound happy to you? Every day there are huge bread lines of people who can't afford food. Saying Finland is the happiest country is a disgrace, and a slap on the face for everyone who are not doing well. It is stupid meme, and I hate how some finns spread it.

Also fact is that some peoples on those lines are just miserly, you are not poor if you are coming to the line with quite new SUV.
