LOL, the first 5 min really cracked me up! The 'visa process' for Turkmenistan you described in the beginning? - US Visa is pretty much the same thing for most of the non- Western countries! US visitor Visa process - Application fees, interviews, invitation letter/bank statements, waiting for months, accept/reject without reasons - my friend, everything and even more to be a tourist in your country!!

I just got to the part of the video where they said transportation is heavily car-dependent. That's not that different from America's transportation either, though some places are changing that slowly, you'll find that everywhere in the country was basically built with cars in mind. I live in a semi-rural area, and I have to either get someone I know to drive me or hire an Uber to get around as my street doesn't even have sidewalk and I don't drive. I actually am not a fan of this myself as it's somewhat inconvenient, but I'm an outlier as I know I just can't drive. I guess the equivalent in Turkmenistan would be to hire a taxi since, you know, no social media. But I'd imagine it's similar to our old fashioned taxis that some areas still have.

I mean tho... you legit need some riches to explore the world. Even if you're backpacking, hitching rides and staying at hostels, time is also a luxury. If you have, say, a relative with alzheimers, or there's a child with a disability, or you yourself have a disability, or you're a social worker working 80+ hour weeks... travel is still a luxury.

I met a Turkmen in high school. Very cool and quiet guy last time I remembered. He would be goofy and mess around with me and others when bugged, but mostly he kept to himself and his schoolwork. I believe he had A’s and B’s. Very smart dude.
Central Asia is so fascinating to me and I wish I could see it someday. It's just like so remote, in the middle of the huge continent of Asia, not alotnof ppl know the countries or what's even there, its just such a cool and unique place that my eyes crave to see.

Best Turkmenistan vlog ever. Even one of the best travel vlogs I've ever seen. You showed so many aspects and local sights of Turkmenistan that I've never even heard of. Really happy for you man and thankful to you for this video as well!
Super cool video! I spent a few days in Turkmenistan several years ago and have always wanted to go back and stay longer. Fascinating place! Also rode Turkmenistan Airlines. Nice planes and cheap tickets. Glad to see someone else noticed all the green roofs. I only noticed when I looked at my pictures later.
Thank you barb for showing us those places, meet those people, tell us about those cultures I know I will never experience myself. These GO episodes are incredible gems. ❤

Great video. I really like these Geography Go episodes. About Turkmenistan 🇹🇲, it's my big dream to visit this country as I've been to all former Soviet Union republics except Turkmenistan. However, it's not that easy to get the visa there and it's not uncommon to get a rejection for your visa application. By the way, in my opinion, the Central Asia region is one of the most underrated regions in the world. People there are so kind and there's an incredible amount of history and of course, great food! Thanks for this awesome video by one of the coolest, kindest, and most respectful youtubers out there!
Hearing your visa story from 3:00- 4:07 is so weird because for some of us from developing countries, that is our normal experience with most countries we try to travel to 🥲

Absolutely. My country's passport is so weak even Kosovo has a better one. But you know what, for us, we can still get easy visas to our neighbors. Mate, Darvaza Crater has been top of my bucket list for many years (since I was 15). I've still never had an opportunity to go there (or even to central Asia in general), but your video motivated me so much to actually start properly thinking about it :D I also know there are so many other things to see in Turkmenistan, and if I ever get to go there, I'll definitely not lose all the time just to see the crater. I will meet the locals and I will make as much of the trip as possible. Thanks a lot for a great video and a motivation boost!!!
