Geoduck with a 5 gallon bucket!

Спорт

I set out to dig geoducks using a 5 gallon bucket. Can it be done? Will cutting out the bottom of the bucket void the warranty? Find out in this award-eligible episode!

I wish I had known you needed that tube fabricated while I was still in WA. As a retired master machinist, tool and die maker, and welder, I SURE could have fabricated one for you.

that would have been awesome!! hard to find anyone willing to make one. At least not for less than an arm and a leg.

I use spiral duct with a band of heavier metal around the top. I drilled 2 large holes in the band and put 1 inch emt through to help to twist it in.

Lots of Goeducks around my place but they are never open for harvesting. We used to dig them by hand when I was a kid, I do remember getting a few but not that many.

The sediment last weekend where I was digging in Oregon for softshells was so soft that a bucket like that would have been a blessing. I think that I need to make one with a bucket that I've been hanging onto for years with a busted out bottom.

This is still on my bucket list. I feel like they should be in the bay, especially since there are tons of horse clams!

Where you live Garron I'd be pretty shocked if they weren't. And the sediment is so much harder packed in Hood Canal compared to where I was in south sound, you could probably just use a postholer! (Much easier)

Try a thin strip of metal bent to fit around the bottom of the bucket, then add upright braces along the sides stiffen the side walls.

Haha I've tried this before. It did not work too well for the deeper one and broke under pressure after a couple of time. Now I use those big aluminum trash that I got from mclendons for about $40.

I would look for a used 16 gallon drum barrel and cut the bottom off by flat grinding the seem that way you get a sharp edge on the bottom

they have a sweet mild flavor. I like to slice them in thin strips and fry them in a dab of butter and a little garlic. In the pan for maybe 30 seconds.
