UPDATE: 4.5 fix has been merged with all 4.0+ fixes, same link as below! 4.5 Update time - As far as I'm aware, only Xianyun and Gaming mods broke in the update. A fixer has been released on Gamebanana already, which can be found at gamebanana.com/tools/16433. Note that this is not integrated with the 4.4 fix yet, so you'll still have to run that if you need to fix mods for anyone else. I've also been told that apparently there was a typo in the 4.4 fixer, which meant that it failed to fix Furina mods! Fortunately, the 4.3 fixer will work on her all the same. There are a few more complex mods that got broken in 4.5, mostly mods with transparency components to them. It's unlikely there'll ever be a unified fix for this, so you'll just have to be patient with waiting for the mod maker to fix it. Until next time!

Convinced me to finally try it lol Just one thing: is there a way to change the help menu shortcut? F1 is already used ingame for the Adventurer's Handbook, so it would be much nicer if I could change it to F7 or sth. Tried looking into the files but no luck so far :/

You mentioned there were a few bans of people who used skin mods but did not hide their uid in streams or videos. Were their bans temporary too?

As far as I'm aware, the bans were temporary, but they would have happened in the very early days of modding, so I'm not 100% sure on that. Unfortunately, the early days of modding are a bit of a lost time.

At present, it's not something I'm planning to make considering I have little to no experience with, but if there's enough demand it's something I can POTENTIALLY look into. I believe someone in AGMG is looking at putting together a launcher for this, which should trivialise the process.

Bans were only temporary, 1-2 weeks at most. But again, most of them were unrelated to modding.

It means that you shouldn't have to modify the gimi target path from "target = GenshinImpact.exe". It doesn't matter if it's in the default folder or not, you shouldn't have to modify it

This is covered in the video - please make sure you properly extract it to whatever folder you want to put it in. Right click -> extract to should do the trick

You still need to open 3dm before starting the game, or otherwise you won't have mods visible. GIMI doesn't modify game files, so it makes no lasting changes

GIMI has historically worked on every version of Genshin without issue or required updates (v7 has been used for everything between 3.0 and 4.6). Mods may require an update, however. If you want to start the game without GIMI, which you may want just after an update, you can start the game normally - if you don't start 3dmloader before starting the game, you won't have mods loaded in the game.

One thing that's interesting about Genshin mods is that it's clearly really popular across the internet, from KZread, Twitter, and Reddit that Hoyo should've at least aware of it's existence and popularity : and they haven't done anything to it... yet, which is interesting (but it's still scary to think that one day Hoyo may snapped and hunt down those who do mods and mass ban everyone who is found using mods)

By and large, they haven't acted because modding doesn't significantly hurt their bottom line (at the moment). If that ever does come to pass, I imagine they'll be more active with taking down mod-users, but until then I reckon we just enjoy it while we can.

The mods don't do anything. Sometimes it can actually boost sales funny enough. Like for instance, if I didn't want Navia before, the robin HSR mod would make me want to pull navia just to use her for example. Or make some units I don't want to use due to their design becomes more appealing through mods.

Private servers are by no means required for modding, though they're the only way to be 100% guaranteed safe

Please rewatch the installation section - you need additional software to decompress these, but they're otherwise treated the same as any regular zip mod

If it's just a character mod, you can do it while genshin is running, just hit F10 once you're done to reload mods

The only difference is in the software you can use to extract it - a zip mod can be extracted using windows explorer, while a rar mod needs to be extracted using 7zip/WinZip/WinRAR

i got two mods for one character, and before installing the first one everything was normal. but once i installed the second one it glitched out. how do i separate the two mods so i can switch between them instead of them being merged together?

Assuming I've got the correct interpretation of your question, you're asking how to alternate between mods for one character, correct? It's possible to make merged mods, where you can toggle the mods on a character with a button, but that goes beyond the scope of this guide. As per this guide, you'll need to choose the mod you like less, and add "DISABLED" to the front of the mod folder to disable it.

Some installs if Genshin may not have this as an option. If this option isn't seen, it's off by default

i tried installing a neko wanderer mod but it has 2 parts to it, the ears and the no hat, but since i cant run them both at once the most he can have is no hat or ears, is there a fix to this?

Realistically it can be installed in the same way, however bear in mind that the tools for this are still being worked on, so for now GIMI is limited to basic retextures and UI elements only

GIMI is opt-in - you need to run the 3dmloader.exe file every time you start the game, if you want to play with mods. If you don't want to play with mods, just start Genshin normally.

As far as I'm aware the only chest Finder mods that work with gimi are ones that make them comically tall or that change the colour of them. Are you trying to use mods like these?

You can put custom models over existing characters, but you can't put a new character or features in the game - it's all replacement of models through GIMI.

This is provably false, and this entire point is discussed in the video - there have been, outside of people making it very easy for Hoyoverse to ban them, no bans related to modding Genshin or HSR since modding became available for these games. If you have evidence to the contrary, I'd be very interested to see it though.
