My parents are Chinese, but I live in the UK and although I eat western style foods all day we never have dessert, apart from special occasions. I've always thought it was weird that one of my friends had dessert every day after dinner

@@birittany6767 We don't normally have desert after dinner but at restaurants they will serve you some desert made of red beans or green beans or just some Chinese desert which must i say taste pretty nice. If you want something fancier then bird nest, yes bird nest you heard it they taste really nice, almond bird's nest is my favourite. At home no but maybe at restaurants

I wonder if you can achieve a better blue color if you steep butterfly pea flower tea in with the mint. It'll start off as purple, but turn blue once the lemon is added. It'll probably improve the flavor a lot too. Using pectin instead of gelatin may help make it more translucent. Agar agar could be used to make it more like a raindrop cake and would also help the color too.

Actually, when adding lemon juice, it turns pink! It starts off blue when you steep it, but it’s a more dark, deep blue, rather than a light, minty blue like the one in the jelly. Good idea though!

honestly i looove the flavor of mint (specifically peppermint, spearmint is not mentholy enough) and when people always compare it to toothpaste im like "why you gotta do my boi like that" 😂

In the chinese mihoyo account you cook these for xiao's birthday after having a date with him around liyue (secretly gathering the ingredients). He finds them too adorable and don't wanna eat them ... He wanted to keep them forever

4:02 omg, how u just ravaged the jelly😲🤣

Those who want to re-create this recipe without food coloring can try using/ adding Mallow flower tea. If you only let the flowers sit in the water for a short time, the tea water should be sky blue with only a slight taste (won't ruin the mint). Tho the blue might not be as saturated as with food coloring just so you know. PS: Planning on trying this out myself, so I'll probably add the results (If I remember) in a few days. Uptate: Eating the jelly while writing this. It started out promising, tho it was more like deep green (ish). But then, by the time I started to pour it into bowls, it had turned piss yellow-ish. I'm suspecting that lemon juice (Interesting fact I learned: lemon/lime juice turns the blue Mallow flower/butterfly pea flower tea pink) and also letting the leave simmer for too long ruined it. But looks aside it tastes pretty good and refreshing. Even if the Mallow flower didn't help the color, it did (I think) give a softer taste to the mint.

The color makes it look more like Suspicious Mint Jelly

Looks good. Mint jelly goes great with lamb. And as you mentioned, it leaves your breath minty fresh, making it a perfect dessert! Haha

i would have made this jelly by mixing a blue and green food dye together to get more of a greeny colour but it still turned out great with only blue food dye!
