To be an infected is quite literal, to have an incurable disease called Oripathy. The Infected are not the enemy, they are just people... People who are often mistreated for their disease. So that's Skadi, a member of a genetically engineered supersoldier group built specifically to fight off the evil ocean hivemind, the Seaborn. The field ops she mentioned were their incursions on the Seaborn, and on their final mission, Skadi delivers the final blow against the 'God' of the seaborn, but was greviously wounded in the process. Some of the dead 'God' blood got into her, functionally turning her into a ticking time bomb who may eventually be taken over and become the new Seaborn 'God'. Her alter, Skadi the Corrupting Heart, is a what if situation where she gives in to the corruption, a story that is covered in the game's roguelike mode. With her at the helm, the seaborn defeat and assimilate almost all of the Terrans' combined forces, to the point where only one city remains, but its strongly implied that it, too, will fall before long.

hello there again venom! since you are not familiarized with the infected ill explain a bit, this is normally explain from chapter 0 to 4 in game but here we go, the infected are people that have contracted an illness called oripathy the symptoms of this illness is different for each person with the ill, the only thing in common is that some infected manisfest some kind of rock or black hard things in their skin, the governments of all terra have made countermeasures for this but in some countries the infected are most of the time outcast in their regions thats why they are hated or even discrimate it for it, also being an infected has their plus and cons like everything in the world and if you have some "Arts" this is like the magic powers in this world this magic can be boosted but with some risk involved, also for all the hate and discrimanation that is in this world borns the group Reunion this are mostly the Antagonist in the story so far that they say theyre fighting for equal rights for the infected and non infected people thats their ideology but sometimes as you saw on the trailers theyve commited some armed attacks to people and some of the cities including Chernobog one of the main cities frome Ursus (yup Ursus is a country) and even the governments have their police and military defense sometimes thats not enough thats were Rhodes Island enters becuase we are the Third force that even we have the same ideal as Reunion we dont commit the crimes they do and also Rhodes Island is a Pharmaceutical center that treats, investigate and try to find a cure for Oripathy all the operators come to Rhodes Island for yet searching some treatment or for looking alliances via trades within the different factions in game or with the governments around terra. i hope this will make you understand a bit the thing about how are the infected and how Reunion, Rhodes Island and some of the govenrnmets works in that world.

Huge props to you for trying to read and understand the text on the trailers! You're the only person I've seen who actually tries to do that. Also, you said that you wish to see actual animations soon - trust me, there will be actual LONG animations (5 to 10 min) VERY soon, probably in the next batch :D

The style of the original two Concept Trailers featuring Starset became a trend to mark the start of main story arcs. Now that the second arc is wrapping up on CN we could go back and explain all the stuff in trailer 3, but when it came out it was just as confusing and theorized about as trailer 4 is right now.

And another comment asking you to watch the animation PVs alongside the trailers, you're gonna understand more about the event but not too much so you're not gonna feel you got spoiled, really recommend you enjoy the event contents as a whole Also some basic clarification, albeit a bit late: 1. The Infected are just people, that are infected. When you see the word, it mostly refers to infection by originium. 2. Originium is... I guess like redstone in minecraft? Originium tech is equivalent to electricity irl, they run cities, electronics, transportations, and even guns. And it also a catalyst to magic or "Arts" as they call it in-game. It has wide application and is used everywhere, but yeah, they cause infection. 3. The people infected literally grow originium crystals on their body. The infection can enhance your Arts, but use it too much and the crystal is going to take over, you literally turn into originium, and spread more infection. 4. Cities in Arknights are mobile, they're like giant tanks that crawl slowly to avoid frequent natural disaster accompanied by "weather forecast" from people that works as catastrophe messenger that analyze and alert cities of incoming catastrophe. 5. These natural disasters called catastrophe SPREADS ORIGINIUM, be it a volcanic eruption, hurricane, or whatever, they all carry originium. And that's the reason they make their city movable, they can't just weather the storm, these slight breezes turns you into crystal.

Tip for future trailers when ya struggle reading. Instead of using arrow keys, just pause and use , or . to go back a frame. Just spam it a bit till you can read the part you missed.

So to sum it up, CC or contingency contract is basically a stage challenge. You can add debuff on your team or buff enemy to see how good you are. The trailer looked a bit confusing but it gives a general idea of what enemy will be

All that text that appears for half a second in the trailers isn't really meant to be read, imo, it's more of a vibes thing. They're all quotes from the story taken out of context. Even a fan deep in the lore probably wouldn't be able to make much sense of them before playing the event.

Originum - a material that converts matter into itself and is capable of storing large amounts of energy and releasing it. Oil, lithium, explosives, nuclear, anything you can think of has been replaced with this material as it's power and conductive source. There's two problems with this stuff. 1. Converts local matter into itself, this includes people who work with the material or mine it or survivors of weapons made from it. The infected, and people knowing the rocks do spread think infected are contagious and we know it's incurable. Shower this with multi generations of culture and you can barely imagine the levels of discrimination created out of this scism. 2. Releases energy in the wild, can you imagine what sort of disasters mountain sized chunks of this stuff would do if it goes off like a nuke? We're talking tidal waves, canyon creating earth quakes, falling skies, instant blizzards, and worse ...way worse.
