Jokes aside, if you stop to think about Genos for a second, he is the saddest character in the series. He never wins the fights that matter but always gets up to protect people and always gets stronger no matter what. True hero.

Isn't that the entire point of the show, Genos would be the main character in any similar manga/anime, always getting strong to face the challenge. It's just that an anomaly like Saitama exists and makes him (and the entire genre), redundant.

The sea king received thousands of chained combos by genos yet he wasn’t harmed in a fatal way, The sea king only got stronger. So either way, genos would’ve lost due to the fact none of genos attacks was causing him any fatal damage. Genos would’ve run out of energy and gotten tired even before coming close to killing the Sea King. If he hadn’t sacrificed himself, the fight would’ve probably gone for a little while until genos is driven to commit self destruct but Saitama would’ve interrupt it and beat the sea king, genos had no way of winning this fight unfortunately, especially since it was raining and the rain powers up the sea king endurance and speed, The sea king beats genos in every way. Endurance, Speed, power etc.

I love how Genos was getting salty at Saitama for not going all-out on their fight, only to realise after one cancelled punch that Saitama actually landing anything on him was out of the question without Genos dying

It's cheating in reference to the fact that using metal augments to improve his body beyond human limitations which is kind of cheating because you didn't gain that strength naturally, this doesn't make Genos a weaker character at all. But he is human and wanted revenge and power so he got augments for that gain which is selfish because revenge is selfish buuuut that makes him human. It's natural to want retribution and justice especially for personal grievances and along the way he uses his body to protect people and help those in need which gives him humanity and a heroic persona (protecting those people from Deep Sea King to the point of near death) but i'm curious to see what emotional conflict he has when he finally meets the cyborg who did it.
