Russia was never a democracy and always functioned only as an empire, which is vital to understand. The most recent Soviet Empire ceased in 1991, and the Russian people never experienced freedom. In addition, Russians were being killed by their own brothers, and terror in the country was overwhelming.

The west is lucky to have such a person who can explain things from the inside. Hopefully someone in our government is listening & actually understanding…for a change.

Thousands of Russian intellectuals are living in exile. In every single Western country there is no lack of dissident Russians explaining the country they left. The same thing had happened a hundred years ago, Berlin, Paris, London, New York were full of Russian emigrées and now we have the same situation again.

I think this would be a great message to send to different universities on Linked In with a link in message box. I am certain students and faculty would benefit from these observations. Just type in name of a university and post To save Ukraine from Russia understand Why or WHY Is Russia invading Ukraine

I cannot see that the West would let Putin get away with firing nuclear weapons from Belarus into Europe on the pretext that this was nothing to do with Russia. The US in particular must already have closed this option off and told Putin in very plain language what would happen if there was a nuclear strike launched from Belarus. Otherwise I find nothing to disagree with in Felshtinsky's address.

Lots of great explanations and arguments, I don't think nuclear weapons are likely because it is an imperialist war. Political and economic system has already changed, imperialist wars can be engaged for decades. Increased militarization and fascistization of society can be done for long periods, and is likely.

Yours is a welcome semi-literate response. Very entertaining. Dumb but entertaining.
