Genesis P-Orridge : guru of the occult, industrial music and pandrogyny (2012) | Tracks ARTE

Ойын-сауық

They're of the most striking character we've had on the show: Genesis P-Orrdige is the master of chaos, smasher of boundaries.
The British musician and performer had been pioneering industrial music since 1975 with their band Throbbing Gristle, and later with Psychic TV, before they dabbled in the occult with their Temple ov Psychic Youth. A legendary maverick in the London underground, Genesis came out with the pandrogyny project with their wife Lady Jane, met in a BDSM dungeon in New York: a new kind of being, made out of two parts, looking more and more alike with the help of plastic surgery.
The year is 2012: from the comfort of their New York appartment, Genesis opens their door to show us their extensive library, where the Psychick Bible, several compendiums on free communities and the complete edition of the Marquis de Sade sit next to each other. Seven years after Lady Jane's death, they still refer to themselves using "we".

Genesis once said, of Throbbing Gristle/Coum, that they "found a hole in reality and led other people through it" which I just love.

I don't think that's quite accurate. She's in with The Process and they have some... strange ties to the intelligence community. She probably knew the plan like many others did long in advance. The U.S. is essentially a Thelemic state at this point so it wouldn't surprise me.

I listened to Throbbing Gristle sometime in 2017 during a really rough time in my life. It resonated very deeply I was in very a dark state of mind I thought to myself... 'this is definitely the sounds of a WORLD IN DECAY". Im from India, used to work in a horrible dead end job, doing much better now....at the time everyday I would wake up in depression, hopeless, thinking about how much the world had changed for the absolute worse ..all my dreams gone, pushed to the side, possibly erased. I'd see the rising commercialism, blind consumption, overpopulation drastically escalating with years gone by, masses of less fortunate people living like cattle in terrible conditions, abject poverty, hunger, suffering, apathy. Yes they call India a developing country, it's a farce, there's a very big dark side to it, the national leaders here are experts in coverups some of the biggest scumbags you'll see. The whole thing with Throbbing Gristle just reiterated the fact that humanity was always fucked. People had lost their minds long ago. Things were far from normal before the virus. its quite the contrary.

Generally people who already had it rough don't have much of a reaction to media sensationalism because there is no shock to be had, it doesn't really reveal anything new about the world. On the other hand, the more comfortable someone is with the status quo the stronger they react when something outside of the ordinary happens.

What a unique yet unifying way to view our world and how we choose to navigate it. Genesis really seems to have taken every fear or question of the unknown and run headlong right through it to get a real answer. But I gotta say the shirt is hilarious, says HORMONES at the top and has the names of pharma estrogen, progesterone, and water pills around the crest. That's so perfect.

yes, you see.. "you had to be there.." in 1990 ptv released toward thee infinite beat and toured the u.s. that summer we were also reading a new publication from the church of the subgenius. the volume included a short story by author "waves forest" about a virus taking over the world by controlling humanity to make everything the way it liked it. so it's really a very 'pop' idea for our generation. of course it's all the apron lodge bubbas obviously. everyone else is being murdered by the secret services of course.

The problem is not over population. It's mismanagement of resources as a result of unrestrained capitalism. People have been blaming overpopulation as the downfall of man since the 1800s when we had 5 billion less people.

@@bungle3912 Well, here we go again. What I find absolutely mind blowing, is that I cannot make a positive statement on an artist that I admire, without reading an opinion from somewhere in the Ether. If you personally don’t like the video or the person being interviewed,;or maybe you have no idea who the person being interviewed is, that’s fine. On to the next video, right. I suggest watching a video about football or bikini bike week. By the way, the ability of a person to create a following and a tangible lifestyle unrelated to any current form of superficiality, from just an idea is a thing of beauty. Since you felt the need to comment on my statement. Now, off you go.

Those wonderings are deep, but not deep enough. How can a sane human culture exist outside of a healthy natural environment? Being utopian and idealistic, are you serving the world or you're serving your inner traumatized child that still wants it all "as it should be"? Isn't self-hatred, though justified, just the other side of self-aggrandizement? Key piece of information: humans didn't appear on earth to build this civilization and to become us. We are just one culture among thousands that existed before. We are only one culture that went crazy and turned the world into itself. But this was not meant for humans from the start. Read some Daniel Quinn, Derrick Jensen or Stephen Jenkinson if you want to learn more. I still love you immensely for your music!

Good point on utopianism but it would be nice to have a world that admits to what it really is, and it's real intentions, rather than wearing a mask.
