Saw them in Oxford in 78 supporting Siouxsie and the Banshees. Of course a big broke out. Billy had some balls to come out and tell everyone to calm down. Great times.

Guy Lawrance 'Cool' as in stand on the spot, head down, no expression or performance other than pretending to play his guitar. He was what they rightfully call a 'sideman'. One of the 2 easier replaceable members of the band. Remind me, he went on to greater success in which band? No, I thought not.

what they lacked in the lyrical dept- they made up for with youthful aggression and energy- like the clash meets the jam- with a bit of the buzzzcocks on this- great tune no matter how you slice it

Uh..where his parents lived really had no connection to what he used his talents for or the success of him & his bandmates. He was part of the bromley contingent. Btw Bromley was one of the wealthiest areas of greater London. So was Surrey His parents lived in both Surrey and Bromley but- so what?

  • @mesolithicman164

So, what? That prevents him from being a punk. Apart from the fact that he was at all the Sex Pistols early gigs and risked getting beaten up dressed as a punk in London in 1976?

Jedidah Fire Oh, not you again. How exactly is he a fraud? He was at all the early punk gigs, he used to socialise with the members of the Pistols, he was in one of the first generation of punk bands called Chelsea on guitar with Tony James on bass. He's recently been touring with Steve Jones and Paul Cook. I suppose he might be a fraud because his hair isn't really blonde and his real name isn't 'Idol', but that's about as far as you can take that argument. And by the way, Derwood is a fake as he was playing in a heavy rock band before he was spotted for Gen X and had to have his long hippy hair cut off to join the band.
