Generation 1984 - Story of singer Dilbagh Singh, the anti-sikh riot survivor & others like him
This is the story of Punjabi popstar Dilbagh Singh and few others like him who grew up in Tilak Vihar in New Delhi. They are the survivors of 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
In the riots after the assassination of Indira Gandhi on 31 October, 1984 almost 3000 sikhs were killed in Delhi. These are the official figures. The families who lost their loved ones were resettled in Tilak Vihar in New Delhi. But the survivors had to deal with problems of drug addiction, mental trauma and depression. Those who were in their teens in 1984 could never do anything with their lives, they are the Generation 1984.

I'm only a 16 year old girl who listened to her fathers and grandfathers stories, it is shameful that I have to tell you grown men to have some respect. Nothing like 1984 should ever happen again, to you few Sikhs who have chosen to discriminate against Hindus or Muslims remember to have compassion and love. That is the true Sikh value. May god bless you all. Whether you are Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Christian etc. We are all one, we must show love in order to prevent another genocide. please respect each other.

Very good video but i think they dont even know/realise the true root cause of drug addiction in punjab, the guys look young 18-20 of age..the excuse that they're giving is rediculous! Our fathers didn't studied so we didn't studied tooo! I think the problem is super fast changing culture of the subcontinent. The "getting high" culture. Nowdays its often seen how people praise alcohol.. Pushing it to mainstream... And Punjabi songs are super hit on late night pubs, so there is huge influx of Punjabi singers into dj/hip-hop genre.. They sing what people love, and nowdays people love getting drunk.. State of being high is often used to boost peer pressure and to look cool... So majority of the songs roam around alcohol. In this digital age, little kids think of these rappers as their role model and thus they easily get into clutches of drugs... Btw this is not just punjab, i have noticed a spike of kids addicted to drugs in my city too We all really need to think about negative effects of these hype songs, drugs alcohol should never be glorified!
