    How is the generator doing now? I just ordered one from Lowes, should arrive in a week. Anything you've noticed since you've had it that you learned? any oil changes yet?

    Generator is doing great, though rarely used. Generac sent a safety kit a few months after I bought it. It's a guard that goes over the pinch point of the handle when it swings down/up. Maybe yours will have it already. Have not changed the oil yet. I've powered up the transfer switch and works great with plenty of power. No complaints.

  • @weathdl7155

    @weathdl7155

    2 жыл бұрын

    No, it does not power the whole house. I only have 8 circuits in the switch panel that the generator powers. 2 stand up fridges, 1 small chest freezer, a Rinnai tankless waterheater (gas), kitchen outlets, 1 bathroom and several outlets and lights throughout the house. It powers all of that fine.

    @weathdl7155

    I don't have a battery on mine, it's pull start only. You must have a different model. Perhaps you could pull start yours and let it run a while to recharge the battery, if you don't have a charger.

    I bought a GP5500, It failed in less than 10 hours. Customer service did nothing despite it being a 100 percent design flaw. Seal failure allowed light rain to leak into the gas tank. rusted out. Cost $400 to replace. They don't care about their customers.

    ⚠️Rules about generator safety: This is just a safety reminder. 1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Be aware of all the hazards. 2) WHERE TO RUN YOUR GENERATOR: Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have a carbon monoxide if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Not even at your porch and your deck. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house. 3)🔥FIRE HAZARDS: Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules. 4) GENERATOR OPERATION: make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords. kzread.info/dash/bejne/e2WetpV6fqi0pqw.html and here is a video more about keeping others safe when using generators Hope this helps. Remember safety first

    These generators are garbage. I had one serviced completely last year, put in fuel stabilizer over the winter, tried to start it and it's dead. this thing continues to frustrate me and fails me. it has about 11 hours of use.

    Sorry to hear that. I always turn my fuel off before shutting it down and let the carb run itself out of fuel. As it begins to die I even apply the choke to get as much of the fuel out as possible until it dies out on its own. So far so good.

  • @keithsa41

    @keithsa41

    @weathdl I just put in the fuel stabilizer and octane cleaner and shut the shut off valve, and stored it away for the winter. No way it has gummed up. The fuel line, sparkplug, replaced, and serviced last may. I've had a lawnmower that fires up on the first pull offer 6 months winter. This generator that I paid alot of money for, really frustrating. Maybe the carburetor needs to be recalibrate for fuel, air. Going to take it to another different service center. Cheers

    Dang that’s weird. My company uses these exact one in the oil field. We run them non stop 8-10 hours a day putting up wellheads. They run like champs. Even on the coldest days in Wyoming they don’t take more than a couple pulls to get them going.
