Besides, I don’t presume to know about other people’s personal relationships. For all we know he was 100% honest with her and she was ok with it. Just like I hope she would have been with him considering she was a Playboy bunny. Besides, I was referring more about his fake persona of the Demon character, so I have no idea what you are talking about.

Originally BM tried acting. The only movie I saw him in was proof he couldn't act. Some how his condescension and ability to belittle others made him money while masking his own inferiority complex. He hates Trump because they share similar personalities. The difference is Trump is far more accomplished.

I agree. Gene seems very level-headed clear minded and intelligent with a great sense of humor. It was cool to see him behind the makeup. I know he’s made thousands of interviews w/o makeup but this is the first time I’ve seen one for a decent length of time 😎

the chairs are the same, I think Gene has a big pillow of some kind on his, look closely, maybe he's uncomfortable slouched down low and has a hard time getting up from that low point, I also hate low seating, Gene has toured ,wearing 40 lbs of costume for several decades. Just sayin' no big deal. He's 73 now.

Great interview. I especially appreciated how Gene articulated his feelings about his love for his wife and family. Obviously, this is foremost on his mind, and he would like other people to realize it. Perhaps Bill seemed to want to change the subject, but I wanted to hear it and can relate to Gene's experience. As far as their political conversation is concerned, well, I have had way too many beers to comment on that!

Oh my just love Gene...so happy for him and Shannon. I so miss their Reality Show.

Couldn’t have more ego in one room unless Bill was drinking from the skull of Glenn Frey. Love them all lol

I am slowly falling for Bill the more I watch these. He’s just very real and I appreciate his pov. Mr. Simmons is always a great guest. Loved this episode.

Fantastic episode! Always enjoyed Gene's reality TV show (and I hate reality TV shows) and this interview underscores how comfortable he is in his own skin and what a true 'man' he is, without apologies. Two intelligent men talking with each other.

Kiss is one of the few bands that articulate the words to all of their songs so well that I can easily understand them. Love that fact. And love their music

Gene is very clever and articulate and he show it here. He also has a huge heart. It's always funny to me when people talk shit about him because they can't see past the very obvious and purposeful arrogant cocky persona that he puts on at times. Great interview

People will now realize how articulate and intelligent Gene is. It's not a fluke how successful he is with Kiss and his business interests.

One of my favorite Gene Simmons interviews! Really enjoyed this conversation.

Any time Gene started talking about something emotional, I got nervous thinking Bill Maher could break out into laughter at any second.

Gene’s is a great example of what one can do to succeed in the United States. He’s definitely outspoken but I admire the drive. Kiss was not an over night success. Never giving up, not getting into drugs & alcohol & making tough but necessary decisions is what got him where he is.

This was very entertaining and a great conversation. I laughed a lot with these guys. I have had mostly disdain for Bill Maher over the years, but this makes me warm to him (slightly). And to Gene as well. I've always been a bigger fan of the band than the individuals who make it up, though I generally do like much of what Gene has had to say, though he has also often been very adept at putting his foot in his mouth. But here he seems to have developed more self-awareness and realization about his own failings, both past and present, which always makes a person more endearing than projecting their own greatness to the world. Which has been Gene's modus operandi for most of his public life.

I’ve never been a big Gene Simmons fan, however this interview impressed me and significantly raised my opinion of him.

Never been a Kiss guy but Gene is a great guy, I always enjoyed the interviews I’ve seen of his. This one is GREAT!

So, so, so many people who have had to work with him (particularly in music as opposed to business) consider him a completely unbearable egoist. I also think that he´s a good person, but we wouldn´t be friends!

I wasn't expecting much when I saw Gene Simmons listed as the guest for this show. I still remember Simmons' notoriously obnoxious 2002 interview on NPR's "Fresh Air," but this podcast episode contains a fantastic conversation. It's clear Simmons has matured a lot in the last 20 years, as Maher and Simmons discuss. "Club Random" and "Conan Obrien Needs a Friend" are quite different but are by far the most entertaining interview podcasts I know of.

Gene Simmons is always a great delight to listen to. I first heard him on Adam Carolla's "Take a Knee" podcast and I have been a fan of his interviews/podcasts every time.

After watching this episode , My whole opinion of Gene Simmons has changed ... He is absolutely brilliant !!! Very pleasantly surprised

Love you, Gene! Wisdom comes with age, but of course, not with all, or even many. It runs the gamut within our individualized, nuanced differences and Kudos, you won the lottery!

You can tell for all his bravado, Gene has benefited from being part of a band and a family. Having kids and a wife, and also a bandmate to bicker with like Paul Stanley has probably kept him grounded. Maher on the other hand is an absolute weapon, and could probably do with someone in his life telling him he’s a plonker.

This interview has so many unintentionally funny moments, that I could not stop laughing.

Gene is a deep thinker and a smooth talker. So articulate and basically self taught in all things business and philosophy. I’m currently listening to his audiobook ME, Inc. which I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys him in this clip. Motivating stuff.

KISS is certainly not everyone's cup of tea but I believe Gene's business sense, the fact that he immigrated to this country with nothing...at all...and has built himself up to the level of success he's been enjoying for over 40 years is quite the testament to his business sense. But all of this is not to mean that I will be purchasing a KISS coffin any time soon. Best to you!

How Shannon stayed with this man for so many many years is beyond me. Off all the places to meet a loving committed and descent woman, the Playboy brothel was the last place anyone would even dream about. Yet Shannon was the real deal,and there she was. I have no idea what she was even doing there, but go figure ...life is strange indeed. Gene Simmons got really lucky when he met that lovely, beautiful girl, and she was a stunner when she was young. She is still a very attractive woman. Great wife, great mother, great homemaker, and long suffering. So glad Gene woke up to himself. It's true when they say it takes a good woman to bring out the best in a man. It's been my experience many many women, especially today, bring out the worst in their men folk. Thanks for this video always enjoy Bill Maher and all his guests. Totally love "Club Random"

His giant ego and large list of female conquests aside, Gene Simmons is probably the most stable rock star out there. (Paul Stanley is probably up there too.) I love the fact that Gene's giant ego was able to keep Bill in check and have a normal conversation.

You are aware the media is leftist aren’t you? Bill agrees btw. In fact, he said “I didn’t shift right, the media shifted left”

Gene Simmons is such a honest sincere human being. Glad i saw this interview.

I love listening to Bill, but during this podcast I kept saying "Oh, shut up Bill.". Gene is such an interesting and well spoken man.

I loved KISS as a kid; I had their poster on my wall, but I was far too young and in the wrong era to know anything about my heroes. We had zero access to interviews, wikis, podcasts, no view into the personalities or really any aspect of their lives aside from their performance and maybe a fluff piece in a magazine. That said, I had no idea how intelligent and funny Gene Simmons was. I'm a fan all over again!!

@@morbidmanmusic if it’s someone you know, which both Gene and Bill did, it’s in pretty poor taste to say that about someone. Would you use that language to your mother when mentioning your grandmother’s death?

Dr. Ruth came to the college I went to on some sort of a speaking tour. Because I thought she was funny I went to see her. Worth every penny of the free admission that I paid (I am sure her appearance fee was jammed into my tuition somehow). That lady was hilarious. Better than most stand-up comedians that I have seen.

It took gene a long time to come to a realization like most people do that we are all vulnerable and sometimes it's ok to bring down that wall for the one's you love. But sometimes it to late and they are gone. Forever. Nice to see that Gene is an actual human being.

Excellent discussion. Both men are so smart. Gene, your humility in renouncing your former self with respect to how you treated your wife before you were married, inspires humility and raises its noble value. And it shows respect for women. I love your acceptance of humanity in all our flaws and differences, political or otherwise. You are a true American, and an inspiration to all.
