@@schprlock That's absolutely correct. The mind of sufferers is chemically unbalanced. This is why it's important for sufferers of body dismorphic disorder (BDD) to be thoroughly screened, and they are. The current standard for treating severe BDD is "gender affirming care" and this involves surgery. Many sufferers of BDD will take their own lives without treatment, so if our only option to save their lives is to have them look on the outside how the feel on the inside, then I'm all for it. It literally doesn't affect anyone but them. It is a life-saving procedure, and it's the only option many sufferers have. Until they can figure out another affective cure, people should chill out about how others treat their own mental illness. Live and let live.

The only sad parts were loosing my daddy in ''95, then my mom in '96. But the very, very best part was falling in love with the cis woman who became my wife ... meeting Marleen was Magical to me ... She has become "the Love of my Life". I can't imagine having lived a life without Mar being in it !

It is unfortunate that we know so little about ourselves, our Creator, and why we were created. If good doesn’t make mistakes - and we are confused about our gender the true issue is determining why we are confused… Were we ever traumatized at a young age. Did an adult we loved show more care for a specific gender? Did we hear a parent speak negatively often about men or women. This issue is deeper than it appears & I would never support my child in changing their gender without giving therapy a change to sort through what is really going on. I have heard waaay too many stories of people regretting changing their gender & thinking to harm themselves because they cannot find happiness.

Hi, I'm not in this documentary but I ran across your comment. I was assigned female at birth and since the time I knew the difference between boy and girl (about 3 or 4 years old, when I could dress myself.) I knew I wasn't a girl. I didn't have a clue what a transgender person was until I was 23 years old, and a lightbulb immediately came on and I knew I had to transition. I can tell you I absolutely wouldn't be here right now if I hadn't. I've been taking testosterone and living my life as 100% me for over 14 years now and it was absolutely the best thing I've ever done. I still need a surgical procedure or 2 to really get the body I would feel comfortable in, but like I said I wouldn't be here if I hadn't transitioned. Of course this is just my experience, but I can tell you I know a lot of transgender people and I have never met one who regretted transition.

When I was 3-4 my mom started beating me and telling me I am not a girl this lasted for 13yrs. I am 62 now and a couple years into transitioning but I fear it is to late and when I go to sleep I hope I don’t wake up. I thought there was something seriously wrong with me for decades and did the “male” things society expected of me. I get called sir way to often and that cuts to the bone. I am glad things are better for younger ppl now, but like I said I feel my life has passed me by.

I knew in 1969 at 16 years old I wanted to transition. Society said I couldn't. Now coming up to 68, on HRT since November 2018. They say it's never too late but I'm not convinced. The changes haven't been what I expected them to be. I look with longing at young trans girls now, and see what I could have and should have been. I had breast augmentation last November and was a big boost to actually have something female. I should have had an orchiectomy after I started but no one suggested it and I never thought. There isn't much left of my testes now anyway and bottom surgery will remove what's left. I am going to have all the surgeries I need so I can finally look and feel like the woman I was meant to be. Young people out there, if this is what you want don't hesitate, go for it. You have more support than I did.

Only sad part in this video is the cost of transition in the US. 8 years ago I started my transition and total cost have been less than 1000€ over that 8 years (all hormones included). And I've gone tru whole change + might be getting later surgery for bit bigger breasts/hip but honestly I don't see reason to do that other than trying to reach the perfection in my mind. That would also cost around 300-500€ total (cost of bed spot in the hospital for around 1 week - 2 week).

Shaving peach fuzz is different to shaving the stubble that taking testosterone causes. It probably doesn't feel masculine to you because you feel like a 'feminine woman' so that's understandable. Both men and women can shave and can have different feelings about shaving. I don't think gender is as rigid as it's often presented as. There's plenty of grey areas and I think society would benefit from not seeing men and women as such fixed, opposing groups. Intersex people shouldn't be forced to choose one or the other if they don't want to. Also I think most transgender people have a biological reason for being transgender. Studies have shown that transgender people's brains more closely match the structure of the gender they say they are and not the one they were assigned at birth. So really they're having a medical procedure to look more like the gender they actually are and not the 'opposite gender'.

I have no experience with anyone who has been in a situation like this. I grew up with old school teaching and ideas, but always felt pain when I saw someone else judged. I am a conservative person who shies away from risk, and the thought of someone having drastic and permanent surgeries worried me. This opened my eyes and makes me feel happy for the people finding their way along their own life's journey. No one else's opinion should matter as long as you take your time and are sure. God bless you and your loved ones.
