You just got a new subscriber in me. I am so impressed with you both - young enough to be my sons, but that's just it. It is reassuring to me to see young men your age be so reflective and understanding of history and the importance of what it all stands for. Thank you. Watching this made my whole day better.

My favorite of Trace’s patriotic songs. Never fails to give me chills. It’s such a hauntingly beautiful song. There’s also a live performance of this on the CMA’s that he performs with the West Point Glee Club that is remarkable. And I don’t think Trace himself wrote this but his pure deep voice just perfects it to me. Another of his that to me just shows the amazing quality of his voice is I Can’t Outrun You. Check out the studio video. And for a hilarious video, it’s Rough and Ready! Even his physical presence adds to the impact of his music. He’s a massive man! And again, thank you guys for reacting to these videos. It’s wonderful to see young guys being exposed to this great music. 🇺🇸🇺🇸♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸

I was there in the winter of '64 When we camped in the ice at Nashville's doors Three hundred miles our trail had lead We barely had time to bury our dead When the Yankees charged and the colors fell Overton hill was a living hell When we called retreat it was almost dark I died with a grapeshot in my heart Say a prayer for peace For every fallen son Set my spirit free Let me lay down my gun Sweet mother Mary I'm so tired But I can't come home 'til the last shot's fired In June of 1944 I waited in the blood of Omaha's shores Twenty-one and scared to death My heart poundin' in my chest I almost made the first seawall When my friends turned and saw me fall I still smell the smoke, I can taste the mud As I lay there dying from a loss of blood Say a prayer for peace For every fallen son Set my spirit free Let me lay down my gun Sweet mother Mary I'm so tired But I can't come home 'til the last shot's fired I'm in the fields of Vietnam, The mountains of Afghanistan And I'm still hopin', waitin' prayin' I did not die in vain Say a prayer for peace For every fallen son Set my spirit free Let me lay down my gun Sweet mother Mary I'm so tired But I can't come home 'til the last shot's fired 'Til the last shot's fired Say a prayer for peace (for peace) For our daughters and our sons Set our spirits free (set us free) Let us lay down our guns Sweet mother Mary, we're so tired But we can't come home (No we can't come home) 'Til the last shot's fired

I am extremely appreciative of your commentary and understanding of the blank checks US Armed Forces write every day in sacrifice for every citizens'' freedoms. This song really speaks to me. Say a prayer for peace. Most of my family served in the military in some capacity. My dad was in the Navy, before he married my mom. His father was a POW in WWI. Captured in France. My uncles served in WWII. I married a soldier who retired after serving 26 years. I watched him deploy to Iraq and Bosnia. My son is a helicopter pilot who was Army for 10 years and is now National Guard. My other son's wife is National Guard as well. Some people think that military members are "warmongers". Nothing could be further from the truth. Though they spend their careers preparing to lay down their lives for their country and defending it, war is the VERY LAST THING any soldier wants to see happen.

Just thought of another. Since y’all are enjoying these so much there’s another that I’ve suggested on different channels that no one ever reacts to. Your channel would be the first. It’s a heartbreaking song by Mikele Buck who I love but who isn’t a mainstream artist. He was a Marine who served in Iraq and his unit’s job was to keep the Baghdad airport road clear of IED’s. This road was code named Route Irish. Mikele wrote ‘Irish Road’ - a haunting song from personal experience and it gives just a glimpse into the turmoil that these brave men endure to keep us free and all the darkness and torment they bring home and live with for the rest of their lives. Thank you to all those who have served and our prayers are with you. 🇺🇸💔🇺🇸

I severed as a corpsman with the 31st meu I still fill the war and the loss of two of my best friends they were in the point Humvee both the driver and passenger was killed in an ied its and image I will see for the rest of my life the gunner was thrown out shattered his back and hit his head on the ground and was in a coma for years after I carried him out I am currently 100% PTSD I miss them both Jerome would be 39 I was a year older and Mike would be the same as me in Highschool we did lan lines of Counter Strike we also did other games back in the day as well but I remember counter strike the most. Nice reaction the hardest thing I ever done though was give the folded flag to Jerome's mom my jaw hurt and my eyes hurt to as I held back the tears and was so hard not to shake as I gave her the final salute as well. I was not allowed to cry for him sor the lngest time years of avoidance of thinking and talking about it lead me to two suiced gestures I didnt break down till I was in ptsd domicile and in group tharapy 12 years after the fact. It even hard writing this.

As a Marine 0326 i served with both 1st and 3rd Force Recon and also with Marine 2nd Battalion Recon. I did 2 Deployments in Iraq and 3 in Afghanistan my last Deployment was in the Helmand Province in Afghanistan in which i was badly wounded and lost 2 bestfriends. This is a great song...most don't understand the tragic and sad truth of this song. When he says we can't come home till the last shots fired....it means they can't come home until the last shot of the last war to ever be fought ends. That's a whole lot of time...wars and continued loss of life that will happen before that finale war is ever fought.

You should know that most of the soldiers that hit Utah & Omaha beach were only 18-19 years old.....some younger. God bless them all...they are very few left.

Trace did this song with the West Point Glee Club...it's even better than this one and definitely worth your time. I buried my uncle at Arlington on August 30...USMC (20 years) Korea and Vietnam combat veteran...he is on sacred ground now. I watched another reaction of this song and the gentleman brought up an interesting question. He's wondering if Trace means that all of our fallen men and women are in "limbo" and can't go home until the last shot...that last shot being the last shot of all wars. I would love to know if Trace put a deeper meaning in the song.

You'll be amazed as to where you'd find the strength to defend this land, even as a civilian. That's what separates us from the rest of the world ( for the most part) the patriotism that we have. So thankful for our military and how brave they are, as George Washington said "What separates the American Christian apart from all others of the world, is we will die on our feet before living on our knees" Our Men and Women fight ferociously on other countries soil to keep them at bay and away from our land, but could you imagine, how much ferocious they would become if the enemy was on our soil? Where their families are, not to mention and you guys even said it without thinking about it, "I'd fight if I had too" You're right, you would find a gun and go out there as a civilian and back up your military brother or sister to protect that flag and our freedom and our families. It's not just the Military's responsibility that the flag continues to wave, it is ours as well. So, the enemy wouldn't just have our military to contend with, which would be HELL all on it's own, but also the American patriot that's a civilian. We are one big dysfunctional family that fight hard amongst each other, but love hard too when the time comes to defend one another from an outside enemy.

That video is garbage that tells a fabricated story. It pretends we were still the colonies and that Key was on a ship with prisoners and that the whole battle was an ultimatum to give up sovereignty. It is literally a trash rewrite of actual history.

At y'all age I was already in combat in baghdad. It's crazy to me y'all worried about a draft just 15 years ago that was never even a concern cuz men signed up to fight still. Men and women n teenagers.

Civil War, not Revolutionary War. Both of my Great Grandfathers fought in the Civil War. My Paternal Grandfather and his 4 brothers fought, only 3 came home. The 2 youngest boys did not.

You should do the live one at the CMA awards with the West Point Glee Club. Much sadder more realistic as it show our wounded warriors helped by the Wounded Warriors Project. It’s for all of our fallen, wounded soldiers and vets that served we can’t let the racist, fascists take our freedom and our democracy from us.
