People are alway's shocked when they find out that I, a 22 (M), am still a virgin and am waiting until marriage. It's not even a religious thing, I was born out of wedlock and have experienced first hand the consequences of the other side of the coin. Body count means a lot to me because it does tell a lot about one's character. On the flipside however, being in my situation has made it extremely difficult to find someone because I hold myself to these standards and am not "experienced" and I'm too traditional. I was upset growing up and still being a virgin, not because I was teased for it, not sure why I wasn't, but because I just didn't want to be; I never got a body count though, and eventually saw several examples that made me change my way of thinking, like the hurt from family for simply getting in a serious relationship to see it end, or classmates who are forced to drop out on account of getting another student pregnant... You know your worth at 19, and I find that commendable, as few tend to learn that until much late. I am certain your partner will also be a great person, when you find them :)

Despite going on a few dates, I've chosen to abstain from physical intimacy until marriage, as it holds deep significance for me. Finding someone in Western Europe who respects this decision has been challenging. My family and 'friends' often view me as odd, and there are moments when I'm tempted to conform to societal norms. I thought the same thing but God graciously forgives, and gave me a godly man who accepted my faults as they were. Now we’re married (I’m 23, got married last year). God’s been good to us. Just turn away from the sin and turn to God. :)

Hey, I just wanted to encourage you to rest in the redemption that comes from recognizing you’ve messed up and allowing your mistakes to lead you toward a better lifestyle and worldview. I don’t know where you stand when it comes to worldview now that you are free from that lifestyle, but I like to encourage those looking to be made new to find hope and joy and freedom from that daunting guilt in Christ, who recognizes your mistakes and loves you anyway. He cares about you enough to take the eternal consequences of your sin on himself. He’s willing to love you despite your flaws, and he is just waiting to lay a life of fulfillment and purpose ahead of you if you let him. There is no reason to feel any shame once you let your identity move away from what you have done and toward what God had done for you.

Nowadays, most guys would be thrilled to marry a woman who has only been with two people.

I think those numbers are wrong. My friend in her late 30s, never married, said she is approaching 50 partners. She has had only a handful of serious relationships. Lots of online dating where she thought in order to have the possibility of more dates you had to give it up, especially in the younger years. She would always tell me that I don't understand the dating world today.

My fiancé and I are also waiting till marriage. We discussed about it early in our relationship and back then I firmly told him I wanted to wait till marriage and he just agreed, saying he doesn't mind either thing. As we spent more time together I started feeling more open to doing it as I knew for sure he was the one for me. We discussed about it and that time he was against us doing it before marriage. He said he respects me too much for us to have sex without being tied in the sacred bond of marriage, and that he wants to make love to me when Im his and he is mine in every other way and I fell more in love with him than ever after that. We have been eachother's first everything till now and we are getting married later this may and I can't be more excited. Edit: we are married now and oh my it was all amazing, have no regrets waiting for 3 years during our relationship. Its really exciting to discover it all together.

I never understood why people shame people who are virgins, I went to a party once and I was having a normal conversation with a group of friends and somehow the conversation turned into a conversation of body counts of each person, a friend said 2 another other said 5, one said 1 and so on and then it was my turn to say my "body count". Without hesitation I said 0 because i’m saving myself for marriage and they were flabbergasted or something that I didn’t do it yet, not to sound "egotistical" here, but one of my friends said to me "my guy, if I had your body I could’ve gone to 10" . I really don’t care if I tell people that I’m I virgin because I find that having sex should be something sacred with your wife/husband and just sleeping around with people who aren’t even your partners seems incredibly sad to me

So sad... People have lost sight of the value of intimacy with one person. The one you are married to. No one else.

If you're waiting till marriage and you're looking for a woman who isn't just looking to use you without her having to put out, and you live in the west....I'm not saying they don't exist. But I AM saying, don't count on ever crossing paths with one, let alone dating/marrying her. Even if you visit every church in the country. They exist, but the are THAT rare. And outside the west, they are rapidly decreasing in number. The passport bros are honestly on borrowed time. In another 5-10 years, the rest of the world will look like the current west, and the current west will be MUCH worse than what we're seeing now. Exactly. I've never had a boyfriend and began almost obsessing over having one when all my friends started dating in middle school. I recently realized that the reason I felt so empty was because I wasn't fully embracing my relationship with God. I'm still praying for the Lord to show me that person when the time is right, but fulfillment will never come from your spouse or sexuality. The only thing that can and will ever fill that void is God.

I’m halfway in Gen Z and I teach it. All I want my students to learn is to think for themselves and to truly think about the choices they’re making. I just taught 1984 to my class and caused an intense series of questioning what we know in reality and how to think for ourselves. So please, read, think, and make decisions yourself- not decisions the world has told you that they already made for you (which they didn’t btw).

I was SA by a childhood friend, and I’ve understand that she was just replaying her trauma out. We both ended up hypersexualized and now I am mortified thinking about it. I slept around because I thought it was 1) empowering (as the anti-slut shame movement started) and 2) looking for external validation. I have a lot of sympathy for children exposed to pornography (as I saw a statistic that more than 98% are exposed before 14!!!) which is on many levels traumatizing/false expecting of sex-intimacy-etc/and a way for children to play out their abuse or trauma, and also children who have been SA. There is a war on our children. Especially as society becomes extremely hypersexaulized and in a way numb to it. Literally the devils work. Causes a corrupt and rotten mind that is hard to rewire unless you do lots of therapy/self help/and connect to God. I pray for our society and our children

What's worse is that the owners let them do this as the site otherwise won't get any traffic and would give Bezos an excuse to pull the plug on it as it generates no profit for him. Even if it happened tomorrow, they'd move someplace else certainly but they couldn't go to Kick as such behavior is discouraged there. That may be why states are banning these sites but OF gets a pass for some reason? The bans as annoying as they are will just cause people to buy VPN's to dodge the things and/or shift traffic to other sites.

Real. I know very few actually interesting people, let alone have the ability to befriend them or even date them. Seems the only people I have around me are either morons, future jailbirds or dickheads. I know of three interesting people, all of which are way older than me. The few girls I had an interest in already had boyfriends and the few good friends I had turned into potheads. I don't even want to know what my surroundings will look like 10 years from now, if I will even have people left around me. Sad thing is that I read a lot of comments like yours and I realise that it's not even that uncommon to have that garbage of a community around us, it seems to just be how it is. The future sure seems bleek but may The Lord point us in the right direction. He's the only entity I know of that won't turn its back on us.

It's funny, because I graduated in 91 and, even at that point, we would think that anyone who graduated a virgin had something wrong with them. This is not a new phenomenon. I was a virgin until I was 24 (and, yes, I knew something was wrong with me) and when I would tell people that, they either wouldn't believe me or looked at me like I was some exotic animal they had never seen before. Hell, there were a couple of friends I had that, as soon as I told them, they made it a mission to try to get me laid. Of course, I wasn't saving myself for marriage, I was just totally insecure and shy around women....

I agree and I'm not even religious and have never been. I've been with my partner for 11 years now and neither of us were each other's "first" but neither of us have a high body count either - the only times we've gotten intimate with anyone was in the context of a long term relationship. It doesn't have anything to do with religion, hookup culture is messing up the importance of sex and intimacy within relationships which is a very important thing.

It is more important to remember that also counts for STD's... ignore when they say STI, as its not an infection, it is a disease... its infuriating that people would try to sugar coat it as something not that serious, or treatable... they can be managed, but the disease is still there, and some can evolve into life ending cases, such as AIDs

We got to know each other with no guilt or concerns about STDs or other issues. Sadly this won't be the case for so many Gen Z and Millennials because theyve been lied to for years about how sex doesn't matter and its only a physical thing which it isn't. They will never know the joy of being the first to discover her body and have her explore your body as well.

This sounds so surreal to me. I personally need a deep emotional connection with my partner and cannot imagine sleeping with 19 people before settling down. I am in my mid-twenties, getting married soon. I have bc of 2 and I still wish it was just one. I am my partner’s first love and getting to know each other and explore everything with the love of your live has been so amazing. You don’t compare, judge or have trouble connecting because you only associate intimacy with love, deep emotional connection and safety. Hook-ups just destroy that in my opinion.

I feel many surveys have a biased or incomplete sampling rather then being manipulated. But sometimes, I ask myself who I am saving myself for.

I'd rather be forever alone than be divorced with child support etc... I know too many people going through some tough stuff right now (mainly men) because women be "bored" or "not fulfilled" and "too young to settle" - mom of 2... those women had no red flags on them. I think its social media wiping their brain to shiny smooth. At home with kids, bored and scrolling on the apps.

I am a 54yr old woman. I met my late-husband at 20, I was a virgin. My husband had been and still is the only man I have ever been intimate with. Had a wonderful marriage and intimacy up till the end. Anyone that tells you you have to try it before marrige is a fool. It's the bonding that makes it more special.

Eh, that's not really new....Still not a good thing though. I'm old as dirt, and I wasn't a virgin going into high school. However I don't think it was multiple until 10th-11th grade, for me personally anyway. Just a lot with the same girl/gf.... I do remember one girl in middle school having rumors about being with multiple dudes....and she was....gross. Probably the reason she was so easy. Trying to build self esteem or some type of false value. Sad. My point is, it's not new, just go at your own pace and don't worry about other people. Girls are usually later on average anyway, so not the same thing. I think it's 14 for guys 16 for girls. Or used to be.

There's not much point in dating if you're not hoping for kids. Unnecessary drama.

As someone in Gen Z, I was scared of sex in school cause of shows like 16 and pregnant. It surprised me that it wasn’t a common concern/fear. College, I didn’t care for hookup culture and now I’m just looking for someone to connect emotionally with before all that happens.

.... birth control damages your hormones. My aunt became barren because of it. Condoms are not full proof, you can still get pregnant. Just don't do it and you won't get pregnant. Why are you gambling when you might accidentally create a life @The_Ace.

Most people I know that engage in this behaviour do it because they’re looking for a serious relationship but are unable to get someone to commit to them but they still want to feel “loved” every once in a while. When it’s been years since since someone has shown you some attention or affection and if you haven’t been touched by anyone for a really long time, people sometimes think that it’s better to at least have something casual rather than nothing at all.

Hooking up with someone hoping for commitment will never work, cause if sex is all they offer then sex is all they want from them.

I'm 20 and never have had a relationship or sex. It it impossible to find a woman these days that share my values and I have realized marriage is a fantasy I likely will never get to enjoy. At this point I'm just spending all my time on my career and using the stress that comes with it to distract from the loneliness instead of casual relationships and sex.
