Too many parents expect kids to learn common sense on their own. It still needs to be taught

Nope you have got to learn it yourself. Who do you think taught your parents common sense? Yesteryear parents were not always hovering over their kids teaching them everything, we were told to go play outside with our friends, we walked everywhere and that sense of adventure largely contributed to learning common sense .

Lacking "common sense" here meaning not knowing how to use a very specific and uncommon mechanism that they've never encountered before I don't think we should be hard on kids for being unfamiliar with or perplexed by something that is to them very novel Besides, we REALLY don't want to get into an argument about what each generation doesn't know how to do...

No they didn’t learn it from me. Not from lack of trying but I was kinda blown away by all the nonsense that was rattling around in their heads, things like woke schools and social media and trophies for showing up. New math and phonics and computers and moms who always stood in the way of good solid punishments and I am not talking wracking them either. Had one call welfare on me when she was nine because I wouldn’t let her play until her homework was done. Trying to make me look abusive. So no they didn’t learn what they needed because I couldn’t get through all the trash of the new life. So blaming me is not the right thing blame all your social justice warriors and you child psychologists that came up with truly stupid ideas and forced them on us. Blame the courts for taking dads away. Blame the teachers who taught an elementary school girl how to report abuse. In the old days I would have had my ass tanned so I couldn’t sit for a couple days. I did have that done when me an two cousins were jumping of a five story building with a home made parachute, we did it five times each until stupid jumped off with an umbrella and broke his leg in two places. So we learned the hard way. Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be done.

Let's see, the kids nowadays grow up with everything having a touch screen or being voice activated and you're wondering why they're confused when something isn't? Yeah, the older generations have failed the younger generations if they wanted them to learn what they know they should have taught them. I'm 28, but I've been in the trades long enough to know how that stuff works. I'm one of those "lazy millennials" I guess because I think it's unfair what your generation and generations before you have done to our current generations trying to buy houses or just live because this economy is screwed.
