Title:- Gen Upendra Dwivedi takes over as 30th Army Chief | Ceremonial Welcome | Guard of Honour
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi was presented ceremonial guard of honour at South Block lawn in the morning of 01 July 2024, a day after he took over as Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) on 30th June. On his arrival at South Block, 5 religious gurus including a lama, a pandit, a maulvi, a christian priest and a granthi welcomed him with religious rituals. General Upendra Dwivedi touched his parents and elders feet as part of his sanskars before moving on to assume his work as Army Chief. In his speech he paid tribute to India's bravehearts serving the motherland. General Dwivedi assured the nation that Indian Army is fully prepared and ready to defend our borders and take on any challenge. He endorsed indigenous efforts and swadeshi war fighting equipment for atmanirbharta in modernising the Indian Army. General Dwivedi expressed support for preparation for full spectrum operations in conjunction with Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Navy (IN). He also expressed his solemn commitment as Army Chief towards ex-servicemen, veer naris and their families during his first media interaction as 30th Chief of Army Staff.
