All these years watching KZread Gen-Con content and listening to Gen-Con-related podcasts and this is the first time I have ever heard someone specifically mention T.O.V.A., I am so happy, you are the best, hahaha

Thank you so much for checking out the video and for the kind words my friend. There is so much to do at Gen Con and T.O.V.A. is an amazing part of the Auction every year that a lot of people might not know about it. I’m just try to spread the word about not only that event but any other happenings people might be missing so they can have more options of what to do at the best four days of gaming.

This will be my third year helping with True Dungeon. I help with the set up Mon-Wed and tear down on Sunday. That way I have plenty of con time when it rolls around. This will be the first year my wife will come with me. Super hyped!

That’s awesome! I have heard a lot of great things about working with True Dungeon and I can’t wait. I volunteered for the late shift so I can get in some Con time during the day. Hope you two have an amazing Gen Con and a safe trip.

I also stopped panicking about completely filling up my schedule, and bought a few generic tickets to do stuff that looks cool during my non planned time. There's plenty of stuff that won't fill up that's lower priority. Definitely made me stop being so stressed about having "the perfect schedule".

The first few years of going to conventions, I would try and pack my schedule with as much as possible. Recently though, I have gone the same route that you do. Have a couple of events planned and the rest fill in with whatever comes around. Definitely has made the cons much more enjoyable.

I went through and got reservations at the nearby nice restaurants in case I don't want to eat a bunch of greasy foods. There's breakfast lunch and dinner all week long, worst case I just won't show up, but it gives me a little chance to take a break and eat some better quality food during the con.

I have a couple restaurant reservations and planning on taking some sandwich fixins for the hotel to give me some options to save a little as well. Having a room with a fridge and microwave can help safe a bit of money on the road.

@@househedgegaming1983 ah yeah in a pinch the simplest/cheapest meal for me is just "buy a summer sausage and a block of cheese". Both will hold up just fine to throwing in a backpack and give you good protein and fat that'll keep you going and avoid an energy crash from eating sugary stuff.

A bunch of greasy foods... you are easy to fool aren't you, you make dumb assumptions based on your bias rather than facts. For the most part if you eat at a restaurant, especially a nice one, you will be eating more calories and have a higher fat intake. People are dumb and easy to manipulate and convince them of easy to debunk lies that they will continue believing because that was the first thing they heard of.

@thomgizziz I thank you for sharing your opinion. However, I would appreciate that if you are going to share your thoughts, please try to word it in a way that is not being negative to someone for theres. Everyone can have there opinions and I respect each and welcome each of them. Everyone can have there own definition of things like greasy foods and that’s fine. I am thankful for everyone who engages in the videos and I would like to keep this channel as positive, fun, and open as possible. Thank you for your time.

Make sure you double-check that you actually packed your badge before you leave. I made that mistake last year and accidentally left my pass at home. It is a huge pain to fix.

So this year will be 18 for me and i want to throw out some stuff people might not think of. So for me one of the biggest things is medicine since your going to be at a hotel and not be familiar with the city take some headache medicine also since some diets might not be used to the amount of grease filled foods at the con some pepto bismol. Take 1 extra shower towel if staying at a cheap cheap hotel housekeeping can be un reliable. Also if using the bathrooms on the convention floor at least in years past they would run out of tp and the toilets would be deeeeestroyed so some cleaning wipes and a roll of tp. To spring off stuff mentioned in the video drink water lots of water many people going no dosrespect intended may mot be used to the amount of walking. I also use a messenger back instead of a back pack because its not going to bash pwople around like a big boxxy back pack.

thanks for all the info. do u know if all the doors to the convention center open at once? where should i go to wait on line?

  • @househedgegaming1983

Thank you so much for checking out the video. In years past the main doors will open and then the side doors a few minutes later to have a staggered opening. If you want to get in for exclusives, waiting and the main doors is your best bet. If you’re not in a hurry to get in, there is a skywalk where you can look down and watch everything. Seeing that many people preparing for the best four days of gaming is pretty cool.

Any advice on how to get people to sign up for your event? I am hosting 5 events, 3 are test play events and 2 are tournaments.

@byetodd Thanks for checking out the video. The best way to get the word out about your event is through different platforms like Discord, Twitter, and Facebook. I can tell you from experience that a good amount of people have been posting on the Fans of Gen Con Facebook group promoting the events and products they have coming out at Gen Con. I have a list of games I am checking out because of that group. That would be a good starting point. Good luck with your events.
