You might try sticking your registration paper to the bottom of your acrylic piece rather than the table, then you won’t hav to fight centering it, plus you can move your acrylic piece around without having to recenter it

Hi, I know this is a bit of an old video, but just wondering ... could you use a coat of gel medium, or some spray varnish, some workable fixative, or something like that, to prolong the life of your mask? Or would that make them stick to the gelli plate or cause some other problem?

  • @HeatherAyers1

I make stencils and masks out of cardstock and after a few uses they’re covered with paint and can stand up to many more uses. Alternatively, some people use them in their collages or journals.

@@HeatherAyers1 Oh, for sure! I've had that experience too. My question was more specifically about working with thinner papers, like magazine pages, and about how a product like spray varnish or workable fixative, used on the paper then allowed to dry, would interact with the gelli plate. Would it cause it to stick, or have any kind of untoward chemical reaction?

I have repeatedly watched this video and I mean repeatedly and what I like so much are the figure and house prints! This is not meant to detract from the demo’s you have given in this video, I just find the markings on the others to be so interesting also! I would love it so much if you could make a video to include your techniques on subjects like houses or figures with techniques such as these They are so fabulous! Did you add watercolor to the figures and houses such as what look like drips? I know you mentioned watercolors and outlining in order to enhance the subjects. Thank you for all you do. It’s incredibly inspirational! I am anxiously awaiting your reply! Happy weekend!! 😬😊😁

Hi there - no I didn’t add any watercolor to the prints. They all came straight from the gelli plate. I outlined them with a thin black pen. I believe it was a micron but the brand doesn’t matter.

You can do a very thin layer on the plate. Why waste money on palette paper? And, believe me, you can definitely do the mask technique successfully with much more paint.

The thing that I find annoying with many you tube demonstrations is that you all take to much time getting started. I enjoy your ideas and demonstrations. However get started. Less talk or at least talk while working. Don’t mind the conversation but be more proactive. Show as you talk.
