These barrels are made by Geissele and they are cold hammer-forged chrome-lined barrels only the outside of the barrel is nitrate coated instead of phosphate.

Thanks for sharing. I’ll offer a correction regarding the barrels which are actually Geisselle in-house produced cold hammer forged.. I remember when they brought in the forge to their factory. The copy I’ve got time on was good to go, my top recommendation 👍

I have to agree with the trigger description. I just bought my first Geissele trigger about a month ago. The hype is real! They know triggers! I will be buying Geissele triggers for the rest of my builds. I love the full power springs. I got sick of the light primer strikes.

I'd heard about geissele triggers being really solid before I got personally into firearms, I'd also heard their URGI is a fantastic system. Come to do my research and found they do everything for ARs, and knowing what I know about cars/motorcycles I figured buying everything from a single company is probably the way to go. Bought a 16" Duty Upper (identical to super duty except CMV non-CHF barrel, and super duty being identical to the URGI except for Geissele Length gas system not carbine length), super duty lower + parts, SSA-E trigger, B5 stock and plopped a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8FFP on there and boy golly is it a joy to shoot. I'm no marksman by any means and its not very impressive but piping 300yd silouhettes was effortless. 1.5MOA groups with it, me obviously being the weak link, its just crazy how easy it is to shoot given its my first firearm ever.

The jam is probably the Superduty recoil spring with the H2 buffer. I had too oil my spring and I noticed it works better with hot loads. Giessllie makes a great rifle but some things are a little overkill on their platforms.

I would be willing to bet that jam was a fluke too because I have another rifle with reliability similar to the super duty and it malfunctioned 1 time around the 7/800 round count and hasn't done it again out of several hundred rounds since then

I'm not sure if you're using reman ammo or your hand loads but the geissele super duty barrel is pretty overgassed and the main ways you'd have ejection/stove pipe issues is having a buffer weight that's too heavy, sticky buffer or spring in the buffer tube(not properly lubricated), out of spec bcg, or the unlikely chance of geissele pinning the gas block and not aligning with the gas port properly. As for "ALWAYS USE A 100 YD ZERO" I highly advise against that. It depends what you're using it for. I have the 11.5, 14.5 and 16" SDs. My 11.5 is my bedside AR and chicken protecting coyote killer. That's what I use for the couple acres of property I own and with my treeline I can't make a shot past 75 yards. Although a 100 yard zero is very common it depends on use. My 11.5 is zeroed at 25yds. My 14.5 and 16 are zeroed at 50. It's what we were taught in the service and i know my poa and poi are the same at 50 and 200 yards. Competition guys may use one or the other and a 100 yard zero may be better suited for not being precise up close but being able to make those 300 and 400yd shots. Zeros should be made with the use of the rifle in mind and what you're comfortable with to minimize unnecessary holds

  • @JoeWayne84

    @JoeWayne84

    2 жыл бұрын

With a 556 platform 50 yard zero is definitely the way to go you’ll be within 6” out to 300 meters . Now the way I sight in my AR10 or high powered rifles is a 100 yard/meter zero and I adjust my scopes mil turrets for the range but then again most people won’t be ever shooting a AR15 past 300 meters and even with a zero at 100 you will be within 11” roughly at 300 meters so if you or just trying to be minute of man you will be fine most likely out to 300 with that setup if you don’t have a magnified optic a shot at 300 meters isn’t going to be much different whatever way you choose to zero haha the redot or front sight post will be way bigger than your target haha.

Only thing I would change, is that stupid buffer & spring. JP Silent capture spring is life. I have put 10 of them in all my rifles. can custom tune based on gas port size, with different springs & weights, and it completely eliminates that cheap toy sound when the rifle cycles. Best upgrade ever. Just runs so much smoother.

The JP system is amazing, and I also swap them into most of my ARs. But the Geissele Super 42 braided spring is not the usual system. There is no spring sound, and the feel is very much like the captured spring systems. They are excellent springs/buffers.

Enjoyed your thorough and unbiased review of the rifle. I purchased an LWRC IC-SPR last year which has a noticeably higher fit and finish and is capable of .75 groups with match ammo. It comes with the ambidextrous features that you pointed out plus a set of very high quality iron sights. Don’t forget these rifles are lbs lighter already than previous generation ARs like the A2, M4. Way too much emphasis on weight, especially in the civilian market. You going to be hiking 20 miles where weight matters? My Geissle is softer shooting than my BCM, and those few ounces difference are an advantage. Among high quality modern rifles, weight is not a decision criteria in the civilian market unless you’re a small woman.

I just ordered me a Rasco 14.5 and should be coming in any day now. I love the giessele super duty and I plan on putting giessele super parts on my new build with the Rasco barrel. Also if I can add by saying, When zeroing the rifle to 50 yards is ok ,but what is really the best I found out is when zeroing the rifle it should be at 36yards exactly because it will be with in a 6 inch group of shooting at the target from point blank all the way to 400 yards every shot. Try it out, Thats why all the special forces I have seen that are rifle builders zero in at 36yards. Also yes, the AK-47 has no advantage over the Giessele because if you think about it, If there was a dooms day event like Red Dawn or Civil Unrest then the performance of a gas powered 5.56 would be more accurate and the weather conditions, including In America the ar15 is reliable for all the above, "for those who say AK47 are more reliable".

I am a little disappointed because the thickness of the lower is 1.5 millimeters thick, the thickness of an AK 47. Compare to other brands like Daniel defense or Aero precision, or colt it’s very, very thin. It’s a 2023 model. I saw in youtube other Geissele automatics that are thicker. Do you think that the fact that it is very thin can be a robustness problem? 1.5 millimeters is very, very thin. Do you think I made the right choice? Merci beaucoup. Best regards

I know you didn't ask me for my opinion but your choice in AR15s is top notch right now. ADM, LWRC, PWS, Type A, Radian, Geissele are really awesome out of the box rifles that imo, don't need anything but a weapon light, whatever laser, optic choice and suppressor mount you're using if your mission dictates such. I've handled a KAC and they're way overpriced but probably the most reliable AR15 I've shot. I own PWS, ADM and Geissele and it's hard to chose one. I like the lowers on PWS and ADM better but it's because of the ambidextrous bolt catches on them. The only one I've mentioned that I don't have time behind is the Type A but I trust my friends opinion on it. BCM, SOLGW and Colt are overrated imo. Daniel Defense lays right between the tier of BCM and ADM. You really have a lot of choice of great out of the box AR15s right now.

However, and this is the Big question that you have to aske yourself before you make a big purchase like this; what are you comfortable spending that much money on? You know that answer inside of yourself. Like I compared Formula One cars between all the top make and model of car companies. I think that top shelf rifles have a similar end result. The end result is, Who is your favorite team? Basically, stick with the brand that you love the most. So long as that brand has a military Pedegree

Cleaning the bolt is a DREAM that nano weapon coating is pure wizardry. Wipe it down with a paper towel few drops of lube good to go! Lightning bow trigger is an amazing trigger absolute money🔥but it’s a double stage not a single? And u can buy it now! Its no longer exclusive to the super duty line of rifles. Also the barrel is also made by geissele in house cold hammer forged with a “geissele profile” and is chrome lined... also the surefire closed time flash hider, the trigger, and the bolt carrier cam pin and bolt are all nano weapon coated. idk where this guy got his info but it’s literally all on the geissele website LOL but I’m not here to bash the guy, the geissele super duty is an absolutely bomb proof rifle made by an extremely reputable company, love my super duty🇺🇸

The dented case was probably from a double feed, as the bolt didn't close all the way (you can tell because of how quiet the click was), it's likely a bad mag. Sometimes the Lipps on them pmags loosen up(or crack). This guy's terminology is all over the place, what is he even saying?!

I bought one in January of this year. The thing that pisses me off about that manufacturer is not only don't they furnish at least a generic set of back up sights but it also came with zero magazines. The gun shop I bought it at was nice enough to throw one in for free. What a bunch of cheap bastards. ( I'm referring to Geissele not the shop)

@@williamdeforte3032 Well. If you compare it to say a DD, you get a better charging handle, way better trigger, better stock (Why TF do they even use those shitty stocks of theirs I have no Idea)and a Surefire muzzle device, even PnW for the 14.5" At that price point (you can get these for 16-1700), the features are better than the DD. DD has a bit longer track record, but spec wise (technically) its a wash, and feature wise the Geissele trumps it. To upgrade a V7 with a good CH, Geissele trigger, B5 SOPMOD or nice Vlotor stock and a Surefire MD you will be in 2k+. Iron sights, That be nice but a majority of manufacturers dont offer it without an upcharge so its unfair to ding them on that. Magazine, yeah fair ding. Yes can be had for 10-13 bucks but you NEED that for the rifle to function so it should be included and that is included with most manufacturers. So for value, its excellent. Just my thoughts.

Let’s face it…with the LPVO/micro red dot combination dominating in 2- and 3-gun matches these days, a lot of folks who can afford this rifle are just gonna ditch BUIS (even if it came with them) to save weight. I don’t blame Geissele for not including those. The lack of a magazine is a definite annoyance, though (but it's defendable: with so many states nowadays that have magazine capacity restrictions, not including a mag makes it easier for them to ship the gun widely).

After seeing all the groups on paper, how can you call it "sub moa," when only one of the 5 or so groups was less rhan one inch? In my personal opinion, you need at least 8 or 9 out of ten groups to be less than 1 inch before I will think of it is as a sub moa rifle. All I hear is biased remarks. For instance, making excuses for jams and calling it sun moa when it clearly isn't

Lol I didn’t mean to come across as like a Mercedes more than BMW. What I was attempting to compare were all of the Formula One cars that the companies make. They all make a top grade Formula One car they can compete amongst each other and I think that top grade rifles are very similar in that fashion. And choosing them is kind of like supporting your favorite Formula One team. I think they are all pretty fantastic but we all like what we like… and by the way, when it comes to Formula One, I’m a Ferrari fan…😂😂
