Geisha and Maiko dance in yukata in Kyoto, Japan / 芸妓と舞妓の踊り

#geishadance #geisha #kyoto Geisha ( known as Geiko and Maiko in Kyoto) dance in Kyoto to a shamisen performance by geiko Toshimana from Miyagawacho. Also, the video ends with the now retired Katsuna posing for some photos. This video was taken in June of 2018.

The camera clicks kinda kill the vibe. Very beautiful.

Katsuna-san😭😭❤️❤️ I miss her so much! I hope she's happy now though, but we all must admit katsuna's dance when a maiko was iconic

The proprietors of the geisha house should ban photography and take one HD video of the performance that customers can purchase. The camera clicks are a gross intrusion on this elegant, low-key performance.

Such beauty. The second performance was definitely more nuanced and theatrical. Both incredible to watch. Only a higher res vid and less clicking and clacking could improve the experience. Thanks.

Ohayou gozaimasu dave, I'm in tears after watching videos of geisha geikos and maikos on your channel, don't worry I'm not upset I'm overwhelmed with the true beauty of these truly beautiful women and of their work, I went to Japan nearly 4 years ago and am going back in 3 years time. I feel hugely honoured to have experienced a tea ceremony and yes I cried because it was such an honour, I know geisha are a rarity but I feel totally blessed when you livestream when geisha are around, I myself follow a former geisha kimono mom

Thank you for your heartfelt reply, Mrs. Viking. I was so happy to read how moving it was to you. It is messages like these that make me appreciate the experiences I have here so much more and I am so glad I captured it so you could see it. I don't know if you've seen the other video with the geiko and maiko in black kimono but if you haven't please don't miss that. It is just as if not even more stunning than this. Thank you for watching!

I don't know if i'm perhaps overthinking, but at 5:34 when the fan is dropped, it seems to be both parallel and equidistant to the lines on the floor. I've never seen one of these performances, the best i can describe it as, is like a moving picture, even the nature in the background is a part of it. Thanks for this, really interesting :)

Gion Taotei is a place in Gion where you can interact with them. It’s made for tourists. If you want something more private it will cost a lot more money but if you simply Google Geiko Kyoto meet I’m sure you’ll get lots of hits.

Depressing and creepy??? 😂 No it’s storytelling in music and dance form. Some dances are sad 😢, but the music is rarely fast paced. This style is all about art, beauty, grace and elegance. They are in tuned with nature (water, trees, birds, and flowers 🌸).
