Some of the newer cars have automatic emergency braking. If the car has this feature, it may need to be disabled so that it doesn't engage in the car wash.

When I was a little boy, there was a car wash near our house where an employee drove your car onto the conveyor, put the car into neutral, and got out of the car. The car went through with NOBODY in the driver seat. At the end of the car wash, another employee drove the car out of the tunnel, towel-dried the car after the car was air-dried, and returned the car to the customer.

​@@evilinside5984 well, for those of us who actually watched the video... we can see it was not the car wash malfunctioning. The first white cars front wheel was spinning backward, the car was not in neutral as the differential was clearly engaged. The vehicle in front of it and behind it were still moving at the correct speed and the first white car (which again, is obviously at fault) jumped because the wheel catch for the belt was still attempting to move the car. This would indicate the belt mechanism of the car wash was working properly. It's shocking how obvious it is.

@@mattypants- I watched this video, and have mechanical knowledge about the way this automated car wash work's. What's shocking to me is the fact that you fail to realize that the vehicle was in neutral, and the front drive wheels turned backwards because the automated car wash, was trying to pull the vehicle forwards, and because bigger tires, and heavier vehicles start causing issues for the automated car wash line, as they get older/worn out, they start losing there ability to smoothly move the vehicles forwards, and start slipping/loosing there grip on the bigger tires, and heavier vehicles, therefore slipping under the tires, causing the vehicle to hurdle/jump over the machine, causing the wheels to roll backwards, as the machine passes under the tires.

@@mattypants -I don't care if 1 million people put there vehicle in gear, every year, in these automated car washes, has no effect on what happened here. The rollers slipped under the wheels, which made the wheels spin backwards, and made the vehicle jump while going over them= not in gear, and no brakes were on. If the brakes were on, the wheels would not have spun! Also, by you, and your friends logic, all people are guilty, just because someone else has committed a crime before, so no need to look @ the facts of each case, bam just throw them in jail, case closed!

Looks like the white car applied brakes causing the carwash feed wheels behind the rear wheels to proceed to the front wheels. Then brakes were applied again causing the car to wait for the next feed wheels but the car behind advanced by the automated feed wheels causing it to rearend the car in front. Looks to me, the first white car is at fault of NOT following instructions to put car in neutral and do NOT use brakes.

Car had their brakes applied. Car hops the dolly. Gets rear-ended by next car in tunnel. Person in front car is at fault and should have to pay claims. When I worked at car wash many years ago, this is why we had staff always watching the tunnel as people are stupid and don't follow orders, pay attention or understand what to do. There were several emergency stop buttons located throughout the tunnel so it was quick and easy to stop the wash cycle.

Looks like gear was set at P instead of N. Front wheel trying to spin backward is differential in action with transmission locked in P.

As an insurance adjuster we had a claim like this. My insured was the back vehicle. The front vehicle was an elderly man who didn't follow directions of the car wash and put his car in park instead of neutral. The rails are supposed to push him at the end out of the car wash but instead he came to a halt and caused my insured to be pushed into the front car. The front vehicles insurance ended up accepting liability based on the video. Now should car washes have a sensor stopping the rails in cases like this. I think they should for sure.

At 0:18 the white car comes off neutral, you can tell by the way it's wheels are spinning afterwards. 100% the fault of the driver and not the business.

If you apply your brakes at a Carwash like this near my home, the whole system shuts down to prevent just this. Usually some people apply their brakes when they just driven onto the belt. Which makes sense to me, but it still is stupid. Even because there is a sign that states that you need to put your car in neutral ☺️

I had a woman refuse to leave at the point at the end of the belt for one of these as she was fixing her makeup. As my car was pushed towards her in slow motion all I could do was lay on the horn. Thankfully she figured it out...but she was angry with me...somehow...?!

I have to deal with DWB, so I don't have that privilege. 😅 The entitlement from these women is disturbing and disgusting. Had a woman in one of those big Lexus SUVs run the stop sign and then look at me all crazy. Then one time when I was cruising I used my turn signal to get into the middle lane, as I was trying to do so, this woman just got over in the middle lane as I was about to, thank goodness nothing happened to my baby. No signal, she didn't even look, just got over 😮‍💨

I worked at a car wash like this. If you popped the rollers, you where 100 percent at fault. We tell you no brakes, no steering and neutral. We even will stop the wash to help you out if your car has a auto park or auto hold function. Our cameras where a lot nicer too. So many Uber assholes trying to game the system. Having the cops come was super satisfying.

I work at a car wash and I am responsible for damage claims. Based on this footage, I normally deny the damage claim because it's 100% customer's fault. Customer shouldn't have applied the brakes while going through tunnel. The brake lights are clearly visible as customer holds on to the brakes which made the rollers roll through. NOTE: When you are in this kind of car wash, just put your car on Neutral and hands off the wheel. When the wash is done, you will get notified by a Green light at the end of the tunnel to start driving.

If you watch part 1 and you can just see it on here a little bit but it is hard to see, THE 1ST WITE SUV HIT THEIR BRAKES multiple times. Those flashing rear light are the brakes. Running lights don't flash and when the white SUV 1st enters in video 1 you can CLEARLY see when he starts hitting his brakes.

LED lights often flicker/pulse/strobe on camera, due to the PWM used to dim them. The lights look the same as in part 1, so I'm presuming these are the DRLs, not light up to maximum brightness as they would be if the brake was depressed.

Those aren't the brakes being pressed. The taillights are lit up because the headlights are on. However, the driver definitely put the car in Park.

The left front wheel was spinning backwards which indicates that the open differential was the only thing allowing wheel spin and the dolly that move the car Forward kept moving under the stationary car till it drug the next car into the parked car... The fact the people "monitoring" these things are so slow to respond, and all they do is make excuses, etc. these places are such a joke. From experience here. That SUV hit the brakes and the dollies were able to go under the rear tire allowing the car behind the to impact. The dont just lift a car while its in neutral. Its the SUV's fault simple amd plain. On a side note..... Those mitter curtains are moving way way to fast. They arent even makimg contact to loses soils. Tjay car wash sucks. Tje rocker panel brushes are also going the wrong direction, spinning brushes should push the car through not push it back.

Either hit the brakes or accidentally triggered a parking brake which can be easy to do in new cars. Employees should have stopped the wash though surely someone was honking their horn. Embarrassing on that wash

Sometimes I forget that not every carwash uses a vehicle tracking system where if a car exits its digital "box" the wash stops to prevent this kind of thing. As everyone else has said white suv was absolutely holding the break.

I was trying to see what the rear tire was doing before the roller was hopped (sometimes if a car is in park it will still send but the rear wheel will spin backwards)

Unfortunately this is why you need someone at an emergency stop. Because people will mess up doing literally nothing.

As far as this incident is concerned, the 2nd car is at the mercy of the conveyor. The 1st car was put in P for some reason - instinct, reaction, IDK. But no matter what, the conveyor is supposed to have safety measures to stop everything immediately when there's a mishap.

I hate those single track ones for that reason.

From someone who worked at a car wash for years that first white van was on the brake and causing the car to keep jumping the catch that pulls you through the line!! I saw this so many times I lost count and the elderly where the ones who did it the most in my experience they would get scared and hit the break or sometimes coming out of the tunnel they would hit the gas thinking they were hitting the brake, I got pinned to a pole by an elderly man who gunned it instead of breaking!!

Could be wrong but if I was a betting man it looks like at ~18 seconds in they put their parking brake on. Sled can no longer move their vehicle forward as seen by the wheels now rotating counterclockwise. Didn't see any reverse or 3rd brake light on the rear of the vehicle but that was still out of from when the parking brake was potentially engaged. Cant fix stupid...

The SUV was placed in park, look at the front wheel spinning backwards, on a parked car in order to rotate the tires while in park both wheels have to be off the ground. When you rotorse one. The other rotated the opposite direction

Clearly a machine malfunction Most likely because of the trucks weight But the driver made this so much worse by holding the brakes and at some point even turning the wheel.

The carwash owner must pay for not having sensors to detect the position of cars.

These newer cars especially hyundais will throw themselves from N to park if they feel like the car is rolling away the pilots have the drive by wire gear shift so most likely thats what happened
