Gedore Silentgear vs. Inbus Flow - Clash of the Ratcheting Titans!

Ғылым және технология

This is a review of the Gedore Silentgear and Inbus Flow ratcheting screwdrivers. These particular ratcheting screwdrivers are made in Slovenia by Oplast (license produced from Rolgear's ratcheting mechanism) and the bits are made in Germany?Taiwan?Vietnam? and the ratcheting screwdriver accepts standard C6.3 and E6.3 insert bits with a length of 1" or longer.

Great comparison. 👍 I have the Hazet 810R-4. Like the others, the handle takes some getting use to as it is pretty chunky. But that can have it's advantages as well, especially when increased torque is needed. Overall, I like the Hazet and glad I picked it up. Have you tried that one as well?

I bought a Gedore silent gear ratchet (the one without the bits), but sent it back. Just couldn't use it. It seems to take an age of fiddling to set the ratchet in either direction, and then the gear has a tendency to slip so the driver spins on the screw. This is especially the case in the ratchet's fixed position. Shame, because the driver is otherwise the right size and weight and the handle is about the best I have come across.

Thanks for watching and commenting. That's by design on that version. The one with bits doesn't have that design change or choice. It's very easy to adjust the direction just hold the ratchet collar and switch it

These two seem to use a gearless system similar to the Rolgear ratcheting screwdriver (Canadian)....

Really great and in depth review, but the most basic showcase is missing. Just putting in a screw to demonstrate how exactly it handles.

I'm sold. I'm ordering one. The silent ratcheting looks so wrong. Just wierd. Why is it so silent. I am buying. I am excited for the low back drag. You say even lower backdrag then LTT. Another great video. Please keep uploading. Seriously. Silent ratcheting still seems wrong. Unnatural. I'm excited for mine to arrive in mail now. Video idea. Cut open one of them. I want to see the internals on how it works. If your aware of any videos explaining gearless ratcheting mechanism. Please link. I'm very curious.

I Love the Inbus version I got. I never liked the ratchet sound 😂 and for electronics or computers those are absolutely awesome since you got perfect control over em even with pretty lose screws. Funny how Linus „redesigned“ a mechanism despite a perfect one already existing 😉 Great Vid also

The Inbus was also 29 € back in April 2022 when i bought it. They somehow decided, to increase the price. It's a bit overpriced now imo. Save some money and get the Gedore... i mean it's the same product.

Got the Inbus Flow today for 29€, the no-backdrag ratchet is fantastic for working on computers. The handle is indeed a bit chonky but I can deal with that. I actually kinda like the cloth bag as it's the only packaging material it came with, no plastic blister or similar. Also nice for throwing it into my backpack without worrying about scratching anything else in there. Great deal, thanks for another informative video!

Ratcheting Screwdrivers need two hand operation to work else it works as ordinary screwdriver. That means we need to hold the shaft or the bit holder with one hand and the handle to turn it with other hand. If we only turn it using one hand the ratcheting Action don't works and it's just an ordinary screwdriver that time. Because many times we need to hold the job we're working on so we can't use both hands on the screwdriver

Thank you for the video. I have never heard of “Inbus” brand before (I don’t understand the cloth bag at all 🤨), but personally I am not a fan of Gedore, at least their pliers, it’s like whatever pliers Gedore offers; Knipex does better and/or Bacho offers cheaper. It’s weird that Gedore blue series is starting to outsource their products too as they have stated many times that their products are exclusively manufactured in Germany….usually it’s their red series / lineup of tools that are outsourced (usually just rebranded tools made in Taiwan).

Inbus is an acronym meaning „Innensechskant Bauer und Schaurte“, basically "Hex socket Bauer und Schaurte". B&S was a German bolt a screw company and the term Inbus became synonymus with hex keys and sockets in german speaking countries. Somebody seems to have bought the rights for the name and is now selling tools with the INBUS branding.

I like how quite they are. The noise of ratchets always annoyed me. This is really nice. I have the the Inbus. I wonder what is the reason for the price difference. The big advantage of these two about the LTT is that they come with a bit storage that has standard bits in mind. No special bits necessary to not to loose bit storage. What I also like about those is that they come with a six sided shaft. You can easily turn it with your fingers and also do it one handed when having a loose screw. The pricing is...Amazon. As I bough the Inbus it was at 30€. The Gedore right now is at 38€. I would recommend to buy the one that is cheaper at the moment. I also would ignore the involved bits. They are good and useful. Until now I can't complain. But as they are 100% standard bits. (1/4", 50mm) So all you need to do is buying some others from your favored company and you can use them with the screwdrivers.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Amazon does change the pricing, sometimes the Inbus is more expensive and sometimes the Gedore is. It's their algorithm for determining prices. The hex shaft can also be used with an adjustable wrench or a wrench as well
