I used to catch Green Anole in Texas and they are some of the coolest reptiles. I had caught one in the wild and it was shedding. After it rested in my hand checking me out for a few minutes and realized I wasn't a predator it actually started to actively remove it's shed. When I saw it nuzzling my hand to try and remove it I too began to help it very similar to how you did by holding the shed skin and letting the reptile pull away so as not to harm it. It was eating the shed it was removing and the whole process took 5-10 minutes. It was such a cool experience being able to participate in something, like being a part of nature. After it was done I put it back where I found it and it just watched me. The coolest thing about Anole is they will actively watch you and you can see in their eyes they are working things out in their brain.

I'm in Florida and I catch/chase them. I love their blue eyes! Then there are the Brown Anoles, so totally different than the green ones! Much larger and more aggressive too, plus the really big ones get ridges on their tails that make them look like tiny dinosaurs! Want to hear more?
@MusicGamesLife

I'm glad to see someone else saying this! We have a whole bunch of green anoles living around my house in Texas, and unlike most wild animals they've never been that wary of us. They seem to like watching us go about our lives and let us do the same for them 🥰

You can see the way the skin is drying and pulling up her back toe pads. She definitely needed to shed. Perhaps dry weather made it difficult? She obviously trusts you very much to let you help her! ❤ For anyone curious, geckos eat their skin. It is believed that they possibly regain lost nutrients from eating the skin.
@fulanodetal3000

cresties normally walk like that. their toes stick so well that if they didn't naturally lift up when they walked, they wouldn't be able to lift their feet! when they need to grip onto something the toes come down.
@KingaKucyk4 ай бұрын
It's good You're helping her. Please be careful with their toes. If some part of the shed will stuck on the extremities, like toes, or tail, they can cut the bloodflow and can make the affected parts rot and fall off. Some lizards are really prone to getting stuck shed, my leopard geckos had that issue all the time, even though we were doing our best with humidity. With snakes it's a bit easier, cause they don't have legs 😂
@GeoGamerArtistVlogger

Yeah, but snakes have eye caps and heat pits and vestigial spurs. The shed can get stuck in there really easily. Source: I have my own snake.
@KingaKucyk

@@GeoGamerArtistVlogger very much true. I had my african house snake having her shed stuck on her eyecap and it was whole ceremony to take it off, especially since she didn't like water at all, but luckily I made it and since then I'm misting my enclosure less intensivelly, but more regularily and from that momment, she didn't have this issue, allthough I'm ready for a possibility of it happening again

I'm glad to see someone else saying this! We have a whole bunch of green anoles living around my house in Texas, and unlike most wild animals they've never been that wary of us. They seem to like watching us go about our lives and let us do the same for them 🥰

You can see the way the skin is drying and pulling up her back toe pads. She definitely needed to shed. Perhaps dry weather made it difficult? She obviously trusts you very much to let you help her! ❤ For anyone curious, geckos eat their skin. It is believed that they possibly regain lost nutrients from eating the skin.

cresties normally walk like that. their toes stick so well that if they didn't naturally lift up when they walked, they wouldn't be able to lift their feet! when they need to grip onto something the toes come down.

Yeah, but snakes have eye caps and heat pits and vestigial spurs. The shed can get stuck in there really easily. Source: I have my own snake.

3:08 처음보는 도마뱀인데 너무 귀엽땅... ㅋㅋ 진짜 양말 벗는것같구 발가락 뾰보복 나오는거 넘 귀엽
Make sure that the lizard actually needs help before doing that. And if it does need help, soak it in warm shallow lukewarm water for around 10-60 minutes. Be careful with the tip of the tail because if removed wrong, you can take off the tail

Especially whoever live in humid area like equator, which the humidity is around +50 to 80. In my country and my city we had the worst humidity which is 90 - 100 and it happened years ago, luckily it's only twice. But most of the time the humidity is around +60 - 70 (normal).

@@itsTigereye some reptiles are just lazy or this one just didn't rub up against anything enough to start the shedding. But the shed coming off in big pieces that easily is a surefire sign of a well-hydrated, healthy animal.
