Thats a big brain move, making a split rig with such simple and readily available equipment. Kippis!

Very interesting (thanks for English captioning 😎)! I received my military training in the 1970s, back in the day of 'combat harnesses', web belts and suspenders; I have never been able to get on board with the massive chest rigs that are popular today. In fact, I sometimes wonder how much is simply popularity and 'coolness'. I can see carrying gear on the chest if someone is mostly sitting in a vehicle, but that becomes awkward if having to move around or even get prone and low crawl. Being in my late 60s, I am more likely to find a lighter rig like your guest describes to be most useful, especially in a vest-type arrangement. Thanks for the informative discussion!

This ability to split the front is one of the reasons I like my Czech MNS-2000 rig for range days. Of course, I was an idiot and picked woodland pattern instead of the arid pattern which would have been much better for my part of the country. But I can unzip the front and have a lot more comfort, especially when its hot out. The pockets in it will handle AR15 magazines although they are a little deep, but that isn't a huge issue if you buy some of the original MagPuls to put on the mags, or just tape on some paracord loops. Splitting it when prone also means my mags, knife and a couple other pouches are available without having to move and it keeps them out of the dirt. The pouches are covered very well, but still, why risk rolling your mags in the dirt if you don't have to? The LARP factor is cool too although it does mean I now have to go buy a vz.58 and a bunch of 7.62x39 ammo.

A large fastex buckle set up like the British PLCE belt in the middle would make for easier one handed adjustment, as opposed to the pair of thin straps across the front.

Ei pelkästään tiedustelijat tarvitse chestrigiä, vaan kaikki ressut jotka saavat m62 tai m85 remmit, niitä on paljon.

Finns and Turks are about the only Europeans that are tough fighters.
