Gear Review | Shoei CWR-1 Transitions Photochromic Pinlock Shield

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

#dafobra #motovlog #motovlogger As an alternative to always keeping a clear visor on you or switching shields for daytime and nighttime, Shoei now offers the CWR-1 Transitions Photochromic Pinlock Shield. Bell has had this option for some time, but if you are a Shoei fanboy (or fangirl) this might be what you are waiting for.

    nice dude. I have been running my transition shield in my bell helmet all last season. Love it. No more caring around two visors. Be warn since it does take a minute or two to change from clear to dark going through tunnels and country roads where there is a lot of shadow light combos of the sun coming through the trees it plays havoc with the transition. Enjoy you will love it

    +WildBill thanks.. I figure it will take a bit to change but then again riding with a dark smoke in a tunnel I would just lift it up if it was too dark.. hey I heard a rumor about Cheesecake...

    I have a Transitions lens on my Bell. It works fantastic. I hope they come out with a pinlock model because never once did my pinlock HJC fog up on me. Shoei might be a bit out of my range though.

    I'm glad to see you finally got the shield - you will not be disappointed! I was on the waiting list for over a year waiting in anticipation for this shield and have had it now for a season and a half and love it. I also didn't mind paying the extra price since it meant that I didn't have to carry an extra shield or sunglasses in my back pack. Just make sure to cover it or keep it in the cloth bag when you store it. Enjoy!!!!!

  • @mperrier1974

    @mperrier1974

    imErmak It still does. I store mine in a cloth helmet bag at home and at work. When I take a break while riding, I take it inside with me or do my best to keep it out of direct sunlight when I leave it locked up on my bike. It might be a bit overkill but mine is pretty much the same darkness today as day I bought it. You won't be disappointed.

    I would have liked to see the difference looking through them. But I haven't found anything dark enough for our sunny prairie days. I've been known to wear my sunglasses, have the dark smoke sun shield dropped down on my EXO500, plus a dark smoke visor on it.

    +SammyOnAYammi yeah it is cool. Bell has been making one for years.. LaZer did too I think.. AGV makes an LCD visor that uses a rechargeable battery... it is a lot of money.. and truth be told it sucks that the technology is so expensive right now.. but the good news is that it's here.

    +GhostNinja I havent ridden in it yet, but it should be worth the coin.. just wondering about longevity and durability... the Quest uses the CW-1 shield which fits the RF1100, the Quest, and the X12,, Unfortunately Shoei isnt making the transitions option for those.. I was hoping they would especially since the Quest is still in their active lineup.

    I have the Bell Transitions shield. Its great in the summer time. Only complaint I have about mine is that it tend to fog up very easily. Its not supposed to but for some reason it does fog up quickly if the temps are below 70f. I got it used so I wonder if the previous owner cleaned it with something that messed up the anit-fog coating.

  • @AdamSVT

    @AdamSVT

    +DJ MotoVlogs My Scorpion helmets had a fog free coating that never let me down, but Shoei uses the pinlock setup. My shields don't fog up at all.. my glasses fog up first on cold rides... I have heard great things about the transitions from Bell owners, so I'm hoping I'm just as impressed.

  • @AfroRider

    +DJ MotoVlogs Only Pinlock do a great job against fogging, antifog coatings do wear out overtime. My scorpion exo r2000 does fog up quickly now. and my bell Rs1 was never good against fog. best solution is to get a second helmet with pinlock for cold days. like HJC Fg17 less than $100, fiber glass/snell and comes with free pinlock ready shield and lense inside the box. thats what my brother has

    +dafobra I had great experiences with my Bell Transition lens. I rode a lot at night and had it fog up majority of the time but the 2 in1 for day riding was great. The bell transitions needed a pin lock to be best

    I would like to know if the photocromatic visor could be work well and be ready to work almost immediately, because I am in the road very often over roads on mountains with instant moments of dark zones ( leak of light ) and then sunny zone and these continues and surprising changes of light, make me factible to get an accident. ..thank you for the feedback, I am Shoei fan and i am looking to get a RF-1200 Helmet

  • @AdamSVT

    @AdamSVT

    5 жыл бұрын

    It's not immediate but it does darken over the course of maybe 30 seconds to a minute depending on temperature and light conditions.. I'm still using the shield 3 years later.. and I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had to.. which I hope I don't have to because of the insane price.. but it is hard to beat. The only thing that gets tough is that my glasses also use transitions.. so if I raise the shield and they darken.. when I close the shield I can barely see and I have to wait for the glasses to clear.

  • @aaronpolakiewicz423
    @aaronpolakiewicz4238 жыл бұрын

    So it never gets as clear as a standard shield is? I'm concerned about that fortnight riding, would you recommend this shield I keep hearings it's no good and not good . Other people tell me it doesn't get as dark as the dark smoke .

  • @AdamSVT

    @AdamSVT

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Aaron polakiewicz It does.. at night or in darkness. I rode into work the other day and it was before sunrise.. the shield was clear.. by the afternoon ride home it was tinted dark.. I'm very happy with the purchase. just wish it wasn't so expensive.. but at the end of the day I'd buy one again.

    I'm still having double thoughts on getting these..Have anyone had it scratched by flying debris or bad scuffing from mishandling? Apparently I had my visors scratched often from debris like small stones, branches, and god knows what else..Thru heavy traffic most of the time.. Quite worrying if this pricey visor could get easily scratched too..😟

    +Yat Zack I just ordered the photochromic pinlock insert. The shield is clear, but the pinlock insert is transitional so protected from debris. It hasn't arrived yet, but looking forward to getting it. Also, for us in Canada, about 1/3 of the price of the full shield

    dafobra This is where I ordered mine from. But looks like I ordered just under the wire. Discontinued on the site. I got my confirmation of the order and shipment. But I guess we'll see. I'm in Canada so will take some time to get to me. They said 10-14 business days. It's been 7 including today. Did take me a few days to track down that it exists and where to get it. www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/177487

    +Scott Andrews Jr good idea for sure.. I think some brands do actually do that.. and I also worry about a visor that realistically becomes a 'wear item' after a few years of use.. and I hope it doesnt happen.. but since I love my Shoei lid I really dont have another option for a transition...

    Arai has photo-chromatic pin lock inserts. It's not as good. There is still a perimeter around the pinlock which is clear, letting light get it. It's disorienting when your peripheral vision is exposed to direct sunlight but your forward vision is tinted.
