Gear I Took on the Camino

After completing the Camino del Norte, I thought it would be helpful to share what gear I ended up bringing and would bring on my next Camino. My dry weight came in at 7.7 kg or 17 lbs - excluding prescription meds, vitamins, and other over the counter meds.
My approach was to go as light as I possibly could without having to wash my clothes every night as some pilgrims do. My approach was to wash every three days.
I had two jackets solely because of the unpredictable cool weather in the early season. As soon as I knew I could live without one jacket I shipped on the warmer jacket to Santiago to Casa Ivar. This further reduced my pack weight to 7.3 kg or 16 lbs. My backpack weighs ~2 kg (4.4 lbs).
My approach is not for everyone, but it worked very well for me. I may have smelled a bit during the day when I am outside walking. But showering and changing into clean clothes as soon as I checked into the Albergue meant I didn’t have odour issues in the evening. I would wash all my clothes every 3-4 days. The only things I changed every day were my socks and underwear.
I hope you will enjoy the overview and take away some tips for your Camino.
