Seriously, what is the ridiculous time limit for? They need rush off for dinner or something is it? People want to hear issues being discussed and answered, not watch some game show where everything is timed. This just opens the debate up to tricks that let the person asking asks a question that can't be properly answered within the time frame. End up people watching can't even hear the full story.

How is that so? Everyone has about 1 min to ask a question and about 1.5 mins to answer it. Total time might overall be more for Dr Balakrishnan just because he is being queried by all 3 opposition members and he had to reply to all 3 of them. Perhaps the CNA should also have the opposition parties question each other to even out the total time, and make you happy. But I am not sure the opposition members would like that, as they will be squaring off each other, not just the incumbent. The approach CNA has taken in fact favours the opposition, as it does not allow the opposition to query each others policies.

Yes... Good question, 1. Stimulus package is from reserves 2. Let me tell you how come we have reserves 3. Yes efficacy needs to be measured. 4. How is Singapore built upon, productivity wise, high tech and investment will not produce the same efficacy.... Hmm... I thought Jamus was asking about the efficacy of the stimulus packages? Like do they produce the intended results? But why is it that Vivian didn't seem to know the direct answer, but instead skirt around the question? In fact, what is their intended result of the 4 stimulus packages? What is their goal in no uncertain means? So far all we know is that those stimulus packages protect jobs, but how many and what kinds of jobs are they supposed to protect? If we don't have a goal when enacting a plan, then how do we know if the plans are successful? It's easy to throw money to solve a problem, but if it isn't a long term solution then it's like paying ransom to unlock a ransomware. It never ends, but you have to keep paying in order to keep things going.

I am glad someone who is able to combat such questions impromptu in such an elegant way is representing our country. A lot of people are saying he is talking nonsense and stuff like that but I am sure the government knows their statistics much more than all of us and the government wants the best for the locals. Yes, they don’t have a target on how much the population should be, but having a 10m urban development plan shows clear intentions of bringing in foreigners to fill the population gap. Also, Dr Chee simply quoted the article of “toying” with the idea of increasing population to 10m and asked for clarification if this would really be the case, so how is there any falsehoods here?

He correctly said that the govt should repatriate 100,000 Foreign PMETS. Only if there are excess jobs then only they can be offered to foreigners. Otherwise how do all the unemployed PMETS feed their families? What is the govt answer? There is no relevance between work permit holders to local PMETS. 60% local PMETS is not good enough.

Normally in dictatorships where the political opponents would be sent to prisons or assassinated. They do not allow you to think differently and will subject the citizens to extreme re-education and propaganda. The citizens will become mindless drones. Not telling people how much reserves is not authoritarian. Autocracy is basically a supreme power or heard of state that rules by itself and doesn’t allow their citizens to vote. How can a single MP be an autocrat when we are literally in a election? Don’t use words that you don’t even know the meaning of. It really makes you look like a fool.

To solve the birth rate problem, you should address "cost of bringing up the kids", choices of women work arrangement after maternity leave, and full time house wives' retirement scheme. For a stay home mum, I have to wait for my husband or children to top up my cpf while spending all the energy raising children. If maintain the population is an issue of national importance, why is women's sacrifices not being recognised financially by the country? At least, you should give these moms a state pension.

The current Silver Support of $450 per quarter for senior citizens above 65 and only those whose past CPF contributions less than $70 thousands is really a SHAME. Why is a foreign minister in this panel?? 🧐 Instead The home minister or PM should be there.

I hope to see people like Francis Yuen and Jamus Lim in parliament. Personally, I like Mr. Jamus Lim. He is eloquent and confident but he a bit on the "atas" kind, thus not sure if he can relate to all level of people at neighborhood or can he "tahan" meeting people of all walks.

Well ..yeah I agree we hope to see them in parliament too ... you said - he (Jamus) a bit on the ‘atas “ = higher class... I think we shd also ask ourselves - if we can give votes to the ‘atas’ candidate of the incumbent ... why can’t we have “atas” alternative voice for the opposing side? Surely We need opposition with class right ? Not an “atas” someone who keeps rambling about “East Coast plant 🌱 ...“ 🤣

A qualitative debate indeed n Sg should be in good hand n can progress with both Govt n Opposition having a constructive mindset however the choice of the next PM is crucial to manoeuvre the mirage given the current world's market political n economic uncertainty.....and certainly meritocratic n not race base should be the preference.

Employment pass holder no quota ! Forreign Diploma holder Indian degree holder .even the government agency are flooded with foreign PMET , the worst case we ever encounter the public agency hotline answer by these foreign especially pinoy, they dont really understand our language accents, and vice versa, and they dont know our Singapore's road name that we frequently use; while we call in to report about incident, Express way such as KPE ECP etc. Road name that are not in English, such as sugei / Jalan , very frustrated if you are reporting an incident or even accident on these road..

I acknowledge the government effort to upskill workers to help with job employment. But the key skills required in today's booming IT industry, don't seem to be something that can be upskilled. Singapore identified this field late (Artificial Intelligence etc), as such many PMETs from overseas were hired to patch this gap. I think that the booming IT industry, is one of the key industry to bring Singapore back on her feet, but we simply do not have sufficient people trained in this field to embrace this global market. Its not something WSG/Skill futures can equip a 50 year old with a few courses, coming from construction/material industry.

@@lt5912 So you can ask singaporean people are they willing to work long and tough hours jobs, then i can tell you none singaporeans people want to work that kind of job, that why singapore government hire foreigners to work on that kind of jobs, so i think singaporean people should appreciate and feel content what the government have help and provide them. I think singapore government really help and fork out alot to help singaporeans people so those people should vote wisely. Also singaporean people dont take government for granted.

@@lt5912 Even though the employers pay more to their worker can you promise that they will done a nice job and not just keep on take their boss for granted. Seem you have so many unhappiness things then you can vote for oppo parties. Because my views are that singaporean people should learn how to appreciate and content what government help and provide them. Not take governement for granted Plus not government want to hire foreigner to work just that singaporean people not willing to work that kind of jobs that why they keep saying the boss pay them less but not more also i am sure that if you have talent then the boss sure will pay you more in that jobs.

@Lawrence w0nq For example government can give back all the money to the tax payers peoples but once the people use all their money already then they still will go back to the government ask them for help Then i think in the end singapore will ended up no money like their foreign countries is that what you want to see it.
