I'm not an expert because my set up is still working fine since I made the "No Service Mode" video. If you have carefully read the service sheet that comes concealed in the machine, and done everything exactly as it tells you to do, and still no service mode... I guess it is time to get a new circuit board like I did. I just checked online and the circuit board is still available.

stackable kenmore dryer works but washer does not drain -- I have 3 spin options and none work , I checked the pump for debris it was clear . system will not drain or spin . it will not spin when empty either . dial appear to be mechanical. what is your recommendation.

What I have has a small hose connected to the outer drum. At the top is a three wire sensor. This is a pressure sensor. When water is in the tub, the water enters the hose and compresses the air above it. As it does, the sensor reads an increase in pressure. That is how the brain (computer) knows that there is water in the tub. If you hear a metallic gear noise as you turn the control knob, you have a timer switch type. No brain, just performs functions one at a time until all the functions are complete. If you have an electrically driven pump that is supposed to empty the tub when the timer tells it to, get a 110v test light and see if the pump has power when it should. If no power, might be a bad timer switch. If power, might be a bad pump. I have seen some types drive the pump mechanically from on top of the main motor. If pump is electric, either bad pump or no power to the pump.

I have had only the one problem so far . So there is only the one video. The wife stalled it by trying to wash 5 throw rugs at once. I had to unload it and once it cooled down, it was fine.

For the the lid switch, do you check the lid switch wire or on the board?

  • @HamiltonSRink

Un plug the lid switch wire from the board. It is a reed switch that opens and closes depending on the magnetism that is applied or not depending on the door being closed or not. The magnet is in the lid. Use the ohms scale on the multimeter. Probe the plug from the wire side to see if the switch goes closed and open when the lid is opened and closed. All this does is check that the problem is not caused by the controller thinking the lid is open. On my machine, it really did not matter, because there was no signs of life at all. If I had some sign of life, then most likely I could have entered service mode. In service mode, there is a light blink combination that would indicate a faulty lid switch. Since my circuit board was getting power, but was RIP, I went with a new board. It has been washing clothes faithfully ever since. Hope this helps!

What about the common GE trick of unplugging, waiting one minute; Open and close door (only need to open 2") 6 times within 12 seconds to reset motor control?

Since Haier bought GE 5 years ago, much has changed. Parts more difficult to get. Many new appliances are rebranded models from various manufacturers including Samsung and Midea. Haier did have a refrigerator factory in the Carolinas last I checked. And GE used to share a refrigerator factory with LG in Mexico.

Be careful not to break off plastic retaining tabs when removing circuit boards. I really hate all the flimsy plastic parts in modern appliances - especially Samsung and LG (Samsung much worse) refrigerators. Keep in mind GE Appliance was bought by HAIER over 5 years ago. They now put the GE name on appliances from various manufacturers. It's not the same company anymore. GE no longer makes consumer products. They license their name (and RCA) to various manufacturers. LG was once Lucky GOLDSTAR

In my video there was a multi-meter. I hoped to communicate that I had first checked power to the board, as well as the inputs to the board. Lid position switch, rotary input switch, etc. Board replacement comes last after eliminating other possibilities. I'm thinking no power, bad input, or you might have two bad boards. Sorry you are having trouble with the machine. Mine still works.

Ok. Field service mode. How to enter field service mode. On my stacked GE washer dryer, I removed the two phillips screws that hold the filler panel just under the row of switches. I found a service sheet taped by the factory there that explains the procedure, as well as how to read the blinking lights, on the inside of the panel. Remove the two screws, remove the panel, look on the inside of the panel, should find the info sheet.

I had a repair guy replace my transmission a few months ago, he may have removed it and misplaced it. I think the repairman may have cause this problem I'm having now. Everything works fine whenever it wants. The wires that go to the motor was not attached to the harness and i believe that the wires are loose. I played with the wires this morning and my washer was able to do a load.

@@ANGROCEL look on the very top of the machine. I use a chair, and I'm 5 foot 9 inches tall. Find the model number and serial number on the permanent sticker on the top of the machine. Try to contact the right guy at GE, or do an internet search. He should be able to email you a copy, or refer you to a web page you can download and print out. You may be able to discover it for yourself! If no good comes from the effort, try to find a unit at a repair center. Maybe there is a used appliance center not too far from you. They might let you photograph it.
