    Show the switch you are checking. People might think you are checking the motor. Some GE dryers use the cup and bearing, others like this use the sleave type bearing. Show people that. Did he ever unplug the unit? Think i missed that part. You should show all the checks that a tech would do on a service call. Front felt bearing check, what is good and bad. belt wear, heater elements, with thermostats, etc. Make a video that covers all that for the people who like to do it all. Good video here, nice quality, tech speaks clearly, nice!

    Look in the dryer for the 2 silver strips of metal. Those are the sensor for wet cloths. Make sure there isn't a dryer sheet stuck on top of them. That will make the unit stop drying early.

    That switch is a safety switch, and needs to be in there. If the belt would break, and stopped turning, the bypass would not register that and the drum would sit in one place and continue to heat, possible causing a fire

  • @MisplacedHillbilly

    @MisplacedHillbilly

    7 жыл бұрын

    Isn't that what the thermostats are for, Overheating to shut down the elements? The belt breaks, the motor just keeps running, doesn't have anything to do with elements. The old machines never had this switch and there were plenty of broken belts not creating a fire.

    There are multiple safety devices in the dryer. You can always bypass any switch, but they have a purpose. It might be very dangerous to bypass it. The multiple safety switches are all in series on the power, so if one opens, the power is shut down. I would never advise anyone to bypass a switch, nor do I ever bypass a switch unless its just to test while i am there to make sure that is the only problem

  • @MisplacedHillbilly

    @MisplacedHillbilly

    Funny, I was looking at some older dryers from the 70-80's and they never had that "safety" switch on them. It seems this might be another unnecessary switch to make a service call and part cost. There is a point is it isn't about "safety" anymore. Like in many things these days. Thanks for the replies though. Have a great Day!
