For the second composite feature wouldn't the new 0.1 tolerance zone have the center be the surface of interest? It kind of looks like you back it up so the .01 zone extends from the back of the surface out .01, but not into the part. So your not allowing for the surface to be 9.99 only 1.00-1.01.

If I made a composite FCF and had a M (maximum material condition modifier) called out in the first frame, do I HAVE to also add that to the second or third frame?

Hi, it isn’t shown in the standard, but it isn’t forbidden in the text. Since each frame is a separate check, they could be at different material conditions. The datum references have to be in the same order and material condition though.

@@RDeanOdell Thank you for your reply. I'm still confused though. You say that "they could be at different material conditions". meaning the top could be at maximum material and the lower one could be least material, or even have nothing (regardless of feature size). But then you mention that the Datum references have to be in the same order (which I understand), but then you added "material condition" which implies the material condition also has to be in the same order, meaning it needs to be there. Bottom line, if I have maximum material condition on the top, do I have to have it on the lower FCF or can I leave it out entirely? I cannot find any examples of a composite that shows having max on the top and the bottom not having it. Thanks in advance

Hi, I mean the material boundary on the datum references. Those have to be the same and same order etc…. I have notes to make a video about this, it’s a great question you brought up.

Hi.. I would like know about LSQR ,MAX inscribed circle, minimum inscribed circle, gausian in Cmm Composite position vs 2segment position (PLTZF and FRTZF) 2. APQP and PPAP &other quality core tools 3. How design a gauge 4.MMB LMB with examples 5. About roughness vs flatness Thanks for your support 😀.. Your vedios are awesome ☺️

Thanks for the feedback! I do have a video about the difference between LSQ and Outer Tangential in my CMM playlist. I’m working on a video that covers MMB of center planes with the gage that can check the position. I like the flatness vs surface finish idea. I will make a video about that soon.

Hi Sirs, I have one question regarding composite profile tolerance from my engineering drawing . The drawing called out composite tolerance without any datum for first & second profile tolerance .this is really quite strange requirement. So, appreciate that if you able provide guidance / explanation regarding this kind of composite profile tolerance ?? Thank you .

Hi, it is likely a drawing error. The only reason I can think of to have the requirement you mention is to control coplanarity of multiple features to each other. Feel free to email the drawing if you want me to take a look.

Yes, for a single feature it means the same thing, for patterns, a composite profile has a different meaning.
