GCSE Physics Revision "Cooling of Buildings"

In this video, we look at the factors that affect the cooling of buildings. First we take a look at what is meant by thermal conductivity. Then we explore how we can build houses to minimise the thermal conductivity of the walls, windows and roof.
This video is based on the AQA spec. If you are following a different exam board then you should check your specification. The Amazon link above is an affiliate link. for convection why do less dense fluids rise? is it density? if so why? and why doesn't the hot dense particles share their kinetic energy through colliding thus resulting in a cold particle again? is kinetic/thermal energy interchangeable?

  • @Freesciencelessons

    @Freesciencelessons

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi. Thermal energy and kinetic energy are effectively the same on a molecular level. Particles with a greater level of thermal energy will transfer this to particles with a lower level. Less dense fluids rise because in order to sink, an object must displace its own mass of the surrounding fluid. As a region of fluid become less dense than the surrounding fluid, it's not possible for it to displace its own mass, so it rises.
