GBHR - Groovy reacts to Geoff Castellucci TAKE ME HOME, COUNTRY ROADS | Bass Singer Cover

Ойын-сауық

Oh the bass is so Crunchy!!!!!!!
I've loved this John Denver tune for a long time, and happily, you guys requested it. I hope you enjoy this re-imagined, bassified version of the song. Also the cat's name is Tigger, and he's just as awesome as he looks. 🐈

Filmed this at the same ranch as parts of Man of Constant Sorrow, and Voiceplay's covers of Daddy Sang Bass and Can't Help Falling in Love. All four are Geoff's arrangements. BTW, watch Our IVF Journey on Geoff's channel, then Daddy Sang Bass. Have tissues handy.

Well, the thing to remember, even an average bass can sing up to an E4 or so, which is only 3-4 semitones lower than a typical baritone. Geoff sings up there quite a bit, but has the thickness of a bass when he does. Bass singers (of which I am) can sing a lot higher than you'd think. And, many bass singers can sing into lower tenor territory... that's actually more common than you'd think, too... Geoff just pushes the envelop beyond even that.

Never knew you were a fellow Texan, Groovy. Greetings from North Padre Island (Corpus Christi). You're in Texas & love cows... sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Lol. Texas has a whole lot more geography than those plains, though. Just realized today that I actually hadn't subscribed like I had thought, so that's now been remedied. Loved your reaction to Geoff's version of this John Denver classic, which was part of my childhood. I love both versions. It's just a great song & both of them sing it so well. I'm sure John would have loved this & sure do wish he was still with us. Oh yeah...early congratulations for 20 years with your wife. That's a big anniversary & I'm happy for you both.

That land looks a lot like the countryside around Orlando. I passed that way to get to see my fellow in Gainesville. I lived at Cape Canaveral. We settled in Gainesville until his job went to China and we did not. We did move to near Tallahassee 22 yrs ago.

I'm not sure if you're planning on continuing Geoff week but I highly recommend Geoff's versions of Jack's Lament, Unshaken and Monster Mash. They're all absolutely unbelievable. I mean, of course they are it's Geoff and that man's voice is, whoa, something else :) love the reactions

Mountain momma - referring to West Virginia as the mother of the people who live there (I always assumed). FYI - from someone who spent a good portion of her childhood and teen years herding cattle - cows are really dumb. Calves are cute but then they grow up into really dumb cows.

I would put John Denver as more of an American folk artist than country, to be honest. I cannot stand most country music either.

I married the love of my life at 21 in 1972. We got in our Triumph Spitfire, left Florida for a couple of days and went up the Blue Ridge Parkway and listen to this song.

West Virginia is smack dab in the middle of the Appalachian mountains, a sect of which are called the Blue Ridge, in the Shenandoah River Valley "Mountain Mama" refers to the wives of (mostly) coal miners, who lived up in the mountains, working through the incredibly difficult times keeping kids clothed and fed and schooled on next to no money. So yes, the song gave it a mention, but not in a negative way, but a tribute to those women who must have been so strong.

Google definition Mountain Mama... The mountain mamas are guided by our commitment to organize, inspire and activate Mamas across the Rocky Mountains to advocate for our climate, clean air and water and public lands. Represent and amplify ALL voices who identify as Mountain Mamas. Why is it called mountain mama? The writers refer to West Virginia as Mountain Mamas. This is an example of personification or the human representation of a non living thing. The reference humanizes West Virginia and suggests that it is the mother of mountains.
