    Not sure the reason for the 70mph signs is the A55's "special road" status. Motorways are also special roads (public roads that are not public rights of way, meaning pedestrians, animals, cyclists and low-power vehicles are banned) and years ago on the M4 at Heston, where the elevated section ends, there used to be a 70mph speed limit sign. That's now been replaced by the standard "national" one. I think the sign is just a mistake. Depressing how parochial the road signs are, especially in Anglesea. The only town shown on the distance sign is Bangor, despite the road being the main artery from Dublin to every major city in central and southern England. It should include Caernarfon, Chester and at least one other place.
