Gazzew U4Tx 65g Sound Test & Review - "Half-Thock" tactile switch?

Ғылым және технология

In this video, I'll be doing a comprehensive sound test of the Gazzew U4Tx 65g switch on a full keyboard, using SA, MT3, and GMK keycaps. The Gazzew U4Tx is a great tactile switch with a long pole that makes audible Thocky sound when bottoming-out, but with silent upstroke! Great mix of the Gazzew U4T and the Gazew U4 switches! The tactility is very sharp and pleasant! Awesome tactile switch!

I'll also be sharing my thoughts on the switch's key features, pros and cons, and overall performance. This sound test is sure to provide valuable insights and help you make an informed decision about whether the Gazzew U4Tx switch is right for you.
So if you're looking for an honest, informative, and engaging sound test of the Ultimate Gazzew U4Tx 65g switch, be sure to watch this video!
The tests for this Gazzew U4Tx Sound Test were conducted using an FR4 plate. During the tests, I performed a typing test and a slow bottom-out test to showcase the switch's sound and feel. I also conducted a decibel meter test to measure the switch's noise level with and without a keycap.
Please note that sometimes videos are filmed weeks in advance, and as a result, the camera position and angle may have changed since the filming of other linear switch sound tests. However, despite the difference in microphone position, the microphone used in this test was at a similar distance and position, ensuring that the sound quality was not affected.
Thanks @gazzew9563 for providing these switches! These donations really help the channel to grow. This was sent to me without any conditions. I can assure you that I will stay impartial in my videos and will always give my honest opinions in reviews and comments.

Hey there, folks! I'm J-S, and I'm all about making sound test videos for mechanical and non-mechanical keyboards. From the latest MX switches to those classic vintage keyboards, Click and Thock is where you'll find all the keyboard sounds you crave.
I'm talking everything from old-school Alps SKCM switches and IBM Buckling Springs to the freshest Kailh BOX switches. I put 'em all to the test and compare the different sounds these switches and keyboards create.
I also like to experiment with different plates, cases, switches, keycaps, and other components to see how they affect the sound. To keep things fair, I always use the same case, plate, and keycaps when comparing sounds.
So, if you're all about that #keebsporn life, you've come to the right place. Just kick back, relax, and enjoy the sweet, sweet sounds of keyboards.

you should definitely add alps to those keyfeel reviews too.. your channel has all the works of something that could blow up big, production quality is just incomparable in our niche. This is what our niche needs to be taken seriously, not 3000 different MX switches but content creators that showcase products in a way that's transparent and in different conditions.

Whoa first time on this channel, the visualization is a nice way to illustrate the sound profile. Would you consider adding tops to the bar charts (exactly like WinAmp's visualization) that decay slower? So that way we can see instantaneous sound on the chart as well as peaks? Or maybe a second visualization with slower decay?

Interesting switch. I needed a quiet but not silent switch to tone down my super loud Monsgeek MG108W and these did the job admirably. I would even take this to work. I do wish the spring were a bit lighter as I do have to type with intent to bottom out the switch and achieve the "thock". If I hit a key softly like I do with non-alphabet keys, I usually don't bottom out the switch then it is completely silent. It would be interesting to see this half thock concept in a light linear switch.

hey I have a question about how you grab the audio. have you ever thought of using two microphones to capture a stereo blend? I like using an SM57 with a Mackie EM-91C condenser mic for recording acoustic guitar demos and it sounds really nice, I think you would have a fun time experimenting with it :3

Oh tha'ts a nice Idea. I wont change the main microphone since I want all the switches tested (and future ones) with the same mic to be able to compare the sound. But yeah that could be a great addition to keyboards sound tests!

According to the noise level chart at 4:30, I'm surprised that apparently they're louder than the U4Ts, even though they're supposed to be quieter? Do they feel louder as well, or is this difference within the margin of error?

So less tactile than clickiez but smoother? Sounds interesting. Surprised how loud the bottom out is when they have 2-way bumpers, or my volume was too loud. Doubly surprised they're louder than Clickiez. Curious how Box Jades will fit into your graphs. Really like this format.

I love these switches, but they perform way better once lubed. Used 205g0 on just the rails, and it's a lot less scratchy. I just dunno if I agree with them being rated as more tactile and smooth than Epomaker Budgie switches, but I'm sure there's some subjective differences that each person will feel.

Good video! Just want to ask that have you tried to mod this switch? There's a unique mod for this switch which is cutting off the lower, bottom part of the silicon on the rails. I would say that is also worth a try and might prob able make a video out of it. I think there's no review for modded u4tx in youtube but i feels like that is worth noticing by people. From this timestamp kzread.info/dash/bejne/iWdtxJmGqrPSh7A.html, You might hear that the bottom out sounds like also dempend and muted somehow. People find out that is mostly related to that tail of the silicon. By removing that part you will have a much different downstroke sound and might even deeper than the original U4T. Just a reminder once, you perform this mod there's no going back for that switch so you might want to experiment with one or two of your U4Tx first. Also cutting that off kinda make the downstroke much louder so keep that in mind too. P.S. this might sounds like a joke but it is really not. Most of the people tried this thinks cutting of is a better options.

U4T is a regular tactile switch, with sound both when pressing down and releasing, while U4Tx has silicone dampeners at the top of the rails which mute the upstroke sound. (Hence why the video is called "Half-Thock" because they are audible when pressing down and not when releasing the press.)
