Gautam Puri's Advice to MBA Aspirants on Career, CAT, IIM, Work Experience, Life and More.

In today's Konversation, we are excited to bring to you Gautam Puri sir, Faculty & Vice Chairman ‪@Career_Launcher‬ , the man who has sent 1000s of aspirants to the IIMs and top B-schools and is continuing to do so.🙌
Can you believe it when he says he used to get just passing marks in school?
The conversation starts with him telling how he was disinterested in his studies and that he only started liking studying during his engineering days at Punjab University.🏫
He tells a fun story of how working at HPCL pushed him to find another lucrative career option that landed him at IIM Bangalore.
He shares his stories of how the IIMB campus used to be in the 80's and early 90's.
Gautam sir shares how he joined Career Launcher as the 2nd employee and started the work with his founder, who happens to be his IIMB classmate.🤝
How they were always passionate about trying new things like introducing mock CATs and OMR sheets and emerging with all the hurdles of making what Career Launcher is today.

Further, we also discussed the FAQs related to CAT, like taking online vs. offline coaching, joining the MBA before or after Work Ex, and more such topics.🗣️
The video will be a delight to watch and will give you insights through his journey and the work he has done.

Hello Just trying to have a genuine conversation. I think the necessity of English 10 years ago was much more than it is now. Because the recruitment was done mostly by MNCs, English was very necessary. With the increase in number of Indian startups and completely Indian companies who work majorly in India (swiggy, unacademy, bharatpe) , the need for good English communication, I think, is reducing ('good communication' being different from 'good English communication'). English helps. It really does. But the necessity in the recent times has decreased. Happy to get different perspectives)

The fallacy is to take the part as a test of someone's knowledge or fluency of English. Where as the part i.e VARC actually is a test of candt's aptitude, just like QA or DILR. The difference is here they use 'words' instead of 'digits'. 3 criteria; 1. Is he/she able to comprehend what's being told in a common language for everyone? 2. If he/she 's able, then is there ability to infer things from that? 3. If all that are done, then does he/she have the ability to set a narrative? VARC is never about testing someone can communicate with fluent English or not. Familiarity with English language....helps. Likewise familiarity with Quants helps in other two sections. Anyway it's a game of filtering out. The most common tool which will eliminate masses most, they'll use that. It is never about the skills which is useful for business leaders.

I hate it when engineers cry because exams give English importance. Just because their strength is mathematics. If a non science graduate says that about mathematics engineers would mock him because hes not smart enough. If you can be amzing at maths you can learn english too. So suck it up and put the time in to learn the language. After all its the language of the world.
