@@Therealtalkpodcast1115 we are not saying MSD is not great, but the point here is too much hype n importance to MSD & no much credit to other players who contributed a lot like Yuvi, Ghambir. It's something wrong with how as a society we idolize some people n ignore others though there is not much difference in their contributions. As far as strike rate in that match is concern, Sehwag 0, Sachin 18 out , then Gambhir stood like rock and prevented wicket fall otherwise we would have all out like 2003 world cup final, hence its justified to take 122 balls to score 97 at that point of time. In fact Gambhir foundation helped to MSD to finish match. You can see strike rate of Gambhir in ODI is 85 despite being opener, MSD 87, so it's proving that Gambhir took more balls only to stop wickets fall. Both innings are important, that's y we could win world Cup.

It was Gautam who came out under immense pressure and steadied the ship and took the team from 14/2 to 114/3 maintaining the required RR, and then continued with MSD. Didn't think twice about losing his wicket, unlike others (SRT) who slow down for a century!

I highly doubt Gambhir got the recognition he deserved after his heroic innings in both the finals. Dhoni probably took all the limelight, to an extent he was instrumental but Gambhir was the main catalyst for both the wins. I like the brutality n honesty in him, also not sucking up to Dhoni n Kholi amazing. You are a legend in my eyes no matter what people say. 👏👏👏👏

The coach selection panel comprised of the likes of Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar, and non of them wanted Ravi Sashtri as a coach of the Indian Cricket team. They wanted Kumble to continue. But it was due to external pressure from Virat Kohli that Ravi Sashtri was finally selected as a coach. Even the great Sunil Gavaskar was unhappy when Sashtri was appointed as a coach and was famously quoted as saying "Sashtri is a linent coach". I think this should clear your doubts on Sashtri's competitiveness as a coach.

The most regretful thing is that Kohli had played with Kumble in very young age still he could learn from him and showed him the door of exit.He may be a great player but there is something called 'respect from the core of the heart' which is only kept for players like Sourav Ganguly;Rahul Dravid;Sachin Tendulkar ;Anil Kumble;Vvs Laxman;Gambhir;Sehwag;Dhoni ...etc....No offence only true fact.

Srinivas Nistala ..... Not sure about SRT (& won't be surprised if that's the case) but for sure Kohli & MSD had a big hand in lobbying for Shastri, as he didn't agree with Kumble's strict and professional approach.

My respect for anil kumble sir after listening to this statment from GG has gone to its peak.

I think my personal experience Gautam Ghambir seems very honest and true.India should not lost England that caused india lost NZ

I am from Pakistan but trust me this guy speaks with honesty.

Gambhir is most courageous and straightforward man of Indian cricket. He always speaks his heart out and that too with proper reasoning and analysis. Anil kumble was great bowler and asset for Indian cricket no one can question that.

When entire Media gave credit to one person in world cup 2011 finals, you were silent and we all know you are really a selfless cricketer always performed when team was in deep crisis. T20 2007 finals you were top scorer in 2011 also u were top scorer. Really missing you in cricket. You and Sehwag had a great opening pair for Indian side after Sachin Sir and Saurav sir.

The problem is, shewag, rohit, sachin were all middle order batters, asked to open the innings, which created the middle order weak. Rohit is the most dangerous in the final overs.

We never forget ur 97 in finals gauti ur in peoples heart...we know how valuable those 97 was when GOD of cricket and sehwag getted out early

Each and every word u r telling in this interview video is true ..

I was happy and thanks to one of our Marathi news paper who wrote article on knock of Gautam Gambhir of 97 and how it was crucial to win world cup. They wrote it in 2020 I guess. But I was more happy that at least there are few who understand of his inning of 97 runs without it I think it would have difficult to win world cup. After almost 9 years I got that satisfaction that few are there who remember and appreciate his inning and thanks to him... May God bless him.

Growing up...As a Pakistani I never liked Kumble....but a time comes when you realise that a true legend doesn't need anyone's approval...Kumble was passionate and true to his art....I was blessed to be a 90s kid...and sometimes I feel Javagal Srinath was most underrated..If I ever want to see a new ball attack from India it has to be Kapil and Javagal....

Yes bro being a 90s kid even I can recall these things. Us waqt jo competition hota tha, jo temperament hota tha game me wo ab nahi milta dekhne Ko. Plus those players like Kumble, Srinath, W Akram, Saeed Anwar, Azharuddin, Waqar, Sachin were so legendary to watch we considered them as our role models.

@@sukumar44 when we grew up to understand everything in a better way Srinath and many others had already retired...90s kids have watched Srinath but not much..I can still remember Kumble with moustache and Srinath together but that's just a faded memory...still watched a lot of Kumble....now India is winning matches easily but the passion that people had that time isn't there...being 90s kid is a blessing...I can smile wholeday remembering those memories

Every body remember Dhoni’s six in the 2011 worldcup but nobody remembers the 97 runs of the real hero that day Gautam Gambhir the point not the 97 runs the point was to stop the falling wickets which was happening that in every World Cup before that. And he scored fabulous 97 facing some of worlds best bawling that day. I give all the the credit to ever single player that day . And Gautam for being the part of Indian team that day.

Every true Indian cricket fan knows his contribution to both the world cups. When 2 or more wickets are taken in early game,their is a need of someone who can keep the score consistent with out losing wicket.

Bro everyone remembers Gauti's 97....I remember Gauti's jersey more than Dhoni's 6...I love both ...I really want to learn from Dhoni's leadership skills but it's a fact that Gautam Gambhir is one of the most honest cricketers in India(Kapil Dev,Kumble are among few others)

@@manojcm7567 Huge amount of glory was given to Dhoni & Kohli but Gautam remained like none cared about his talent. Just bcz He had some issues with Dhoni the board treated him like a junkie. The century he contributed in world cup brought you the victory but everyone was mad for Dhoni. Seriously that really broke my heart as a neutral cricket fan.

Dhoni himself said the contribution of gambir in 2011 WC was huge , other bcci people and the media made it forget

If Sachin would be as honest as of Gautam then cricket would have been extinct in India for so very long as every word from him matters much more than any of the person alive in India( Bharat Ratna) But in the case of Gautam (though I love him) things are different.

Agreed. Didnt have the spine to speak up when he was in the team which was understandable. But to behave the same way even after retiring is frankly dissapointing. Which is GG and Ganguly still continue to be favourites even after retirement.

If Sachin will speak about wrong things going inside cricket then it will hurt every Indian's sentiment and people will start hating cricket and you know Indian economy is also dependable on cricket(IPL) so there will be a downfall in country's economy. Moreover it can lead to a situation of panic as everyone will be in front of the Bcci office or players house throwing acid balls and doing protest. I know the truth should come out but we should forget those things as past. With time things are getting more transparent, fixings going down and eventually wrong things will decrease. How much you try, you can't remove the devil from society. No offence brother, thank you
