A short video showing how to gather reference material in the field (outdoors, en plein air) in preparation for doing a studio painting based on this. Pencil studies, color studies and photographs -- all of these play a part. For color studies, it doesn't matter what medium you use. I will sometimes use pastel, oil or even gouache for my color studies.
